Chapter 9: The Guild

"You have not registered with the guild yet? Are you trying to get that old sack of bones on my case? If he fines me and lowers my drinking money, I might actually die! Get out there and register!"

Recalling Loki’s exasperated comments from earlier, Light decided it was probably best to get her off her case. Truthfully, it was kind of her fault as well. She had simply forgotten about the guild. Unlike Bell, whose only source of information about the dungeon was the guild, or more specifically, Eina, his advisor, Light had Loki, who seemed quite happy to be relied on. Despite being a cunning Goddess, she seemed to truly care about her Familia, a trait Light found all too endearing.

As someone leading the way in dungeon exploration, Loki's knowledge of the dungeon was far superior to just about anyone’s, barring only a few. Additionally, her knowledge was not just theoretical but also drawn from first-hand reports of people who had experienced everything she knew.

The point being that with Loki around, Light saw no need to go to the guild. So much so that she had not even registered there. In fact, she had not even popped in to collect her system reward. Judging from her "Fairy Cannon" reward, the skills or items from signing in at pces seemed to have some retion to the environment.

"What would the guild even give me? Aren't they all non-combatants?" Light muttered as she unconsciously quickened her steps, growing more curious by the second. Although the chances were that she would obtain something useless like "Paperwork Efficiency," the unknown had entrapped her.

As she walked through the open double doors of the guild building, taking in just how spacious the inside was, the anticipated system message appeared before her eyes.

[Sign-in location: Orario’s Guild Building has been met. Reward: Magic: Dia Panakeia]

"No way." Light paused in disbelief.

She had not considered for a moment that she would obtain a skill from Fels. If she had not been in a public pce, she might have burst into ughter at just how good this reward was. Although it made sense, given that he was the right-hand man of God Ouranos, who also served as the guild's leader, but the connection had not occurred to her until now.

As for the spell, the fact that it was based on the mythical Panacea, which was said to cure all illnesses and diseases and prolong life indefinitely, showed just how powerful its effects truly were. Obviously, the effects would not be identical, but this was undoubtedly the strongest healing spell in the world.

The only thing holding the skill back was Light herself—or more specifically, her ck of complementary development skills. Just as Ais combined her Ariel magic with the Mage development skill to reduce mind (mana) consumption and maximise its potential, Dia Panakeia required the Mystery development skill to reach its full power.

Unfortunately, development skills could not be obtained in the short term.

They were abilities that had the potential to unlock upon levelling up, meaning that unless the system gifted them to her, Light would need to reach level two before even having a chance of obtaining one.

"Now that I think about it, it is strange that I have the Cooking Development skill. Loki probably noticed that oddity too." Light assumed the Cooking skill was linked to her subcss, so while she was not shocked by its appearance, Loki surely was.

It was about midday, a particurly slow point of the day for the guild. Unlike the morning, when people finalised any st-minute preparations and informed their advisors of their pns to enter the dungeon—so that, in case of an emergency, a rescue could be arranged—or the te afternoon, when people left the dungeon and rushed to the guild to sell their spoils, midday saw only a few people having a day off.

Thankfully, this meant Light did not have to wait long. As she walked towards the rge desk that cut through the middle of the room, she took in the vibrant colours decorating the space. Even the people manning the reception wore bright, welcoming smiles.

"Everyone is so happy while working in customer service. This really is a fantasy world."

Even the building’s décor, which was not soul-destroying, reinforced Light’s realisation.

She also took the time to look around, searching for Eina. It was not that she wanted the half-elven woman to become her advisor, but no matter how many times she saw them, there was something oddly satisfying about seeing a character from her previous life in person.

  "That is an odd scene."

Finally spotting her, Light noticed Eina in the corner, speaking one-on-one with an adventurer. Seeing someone who was not Bell receive such personal attention caused Light to raise an eyebrow. Obviously, it made sense. Bell would not be Eina’s only adventurer under her guidance, but somehow, it just felt wrong, as if poor little Bell was being NTR’d.

"What the hell am I thinking?"

Snapping out of her ridiculous thoughts, Light reached the reception area, where a cool beauty with a mature figure filling out the tight-fitting guild uniform awaited her. Despite the woman’s standoffish demeanour, her two wolf-like ears, poking out from her wavy crimson hair, added an unexpected sense of cuteness to her otherwise stern presence.

"Is there anything I can do for you?" The woman asked bluntly, her mature voice fitting her demeanour perfectly.

"I've come to register. Is now a good time?"

Despite the woman’s beauty, Light was not particurly taken aback by it. Not only did she have to deal with her own beauty daily, but this world also had elves and Goddesses. If this had been any other fantasy world, the receptionist would undoubtedly be first-css in looks, but unfortunately, she had been demoted to third tier.

That was not to say she was not beautiful or cked her own charm. This world simply set an incredibly high bar.

  "Come with me."

The guild employee nodded, grabbing a prepared set of forms and motioning for Light to follow as she walked towards the back, finding an isoted room. Once inside, she began questioning Light.

Everything from her name, age, current Familia even to any previous affiliation with other Familias. She also asked short questions about Light’s family situation and who her next of kin would be. Light could not help but notice the slight grimace on the woman’s face upon asking the st one.

With no one to list, Light simply answered Loki as next of kin.

"Now, I just need to confirm your blessing.” Obviously, the guild will not just take someone’s word for it. Thankfully, each blessing, seemingly by design, comes with an emblem-like image next to the person’s status.” I will step outside while you prepare. Just call me when you are—"

Before she could finish, the woman’s golden pupils widened in surprise. Even her tail and eyes perked up cutely, with a slight reddening happening on her cheeks.

Light, not catching the st part, had already begun undressing. She had grown confident with her new body and did not think much of being seen in just her bra.

Snapping out of her surprise, the guild employee shook her head pyfully and quipped, "Aren’t you a bold one?"

"Well, if you are going to fight monsters for a living, you have to be a little crazy." Light shrugged with a smile. It seemed that behind the woman’s stern exterior was a hint of mischief.

Although she had thought it numerous times, the guild employee had never actually heard someone say what she was thinking aloud. Normally, adventurers were so drunk on their aspirations—whether it be riches, power, a harem, or the dream of becoming a hero—that they lost all sense of self-awareness. Dealing with so many like this, she had started to think she was crazy for thinking like that.

"I wonder if she can think like that because she's new," the guild employee thought.

"I have confirmed your blessing. You are indeed part of the Loki Familia. It is good to be confident, but be sure not to go around showing people your status too openly," the employee warned, taking her job seriously.

"I was going to say, before you took your top off, that I only need to see the top of the blessing. You do not need to show the whole thing."

Light tilted her head. "The guild doesn't take note of skills?"

"No. That is personal information that should stay between you and your Goddess," the guild employee answered.

"Also, I could not help but notice your stats are not all zero. You didn't enter the dungeon before registering, did you?"

Feeling the woman’s intense gaze, as if she could see through any lie, Light nervously chuckled, suddenly reminded of school, when teachers would catch her doing something wrong.

  "Maybe a little—"

  "THAT IS RECKLESS!"

The guild employee completely broke her cool demeanour with a sudden outburst.

"Did you go in wearing that? Those are just normal clothes with no protection. Tell me you at least brought a weapon! Do you not know the guild provides starter equipment for new adventurers? It might not be much, but it is better than going in with nothing! We also have all the test information and maps. You should have—"

Realising she had gone off the rails, the guild employee cleared her throat in an exaggerated manner.

"My apologies. It is not my pce to interfere in an adventurer’s personal life."

"Huh, it is fine. There is no need to apologise." Light answered, still reeling from the sudden shift in tone.

She had thought the woman was about to reprimand her for breaking some guild rule, but no. From everything she had said, Light could tell she was simply worried for her safety.

She also couldn’t fault in her questioning her clothes. Although her current outfit indeed had defensive qualities equivalent to metallic light armour, no one would believe that just by looking at it.

Maybe others would feel offended at being put on the naughty step and scolded by someone they just met, but how could Light fault someone for simply being a genuinely kind person?

No, instead of feeling annoyed, Light was having other ideas.

"I heard there is a system where you can have someone appointed as your personal advisor?"

Not sure where this was going, the guild employee tilted her head slightly before answering, "We do. As long as the employee accepts your request, you can ask anyone who works here to be your advisor. If one agrees, not only will it mean you can skip the lines when your advisor is not stationed at the main reception, but you will also receive one-on-one consultations.

"If you are interested in such services, I recommend Eina Tulle. She may be young, but—"

"Would you become my advisor?" Light interrupted suddenly, a warm smile etched on her already beautiful face.

  "Me?"

"Of course. I cannot think of anyone better. Someone sincere enough to get worried and angry about a stranger endangering themselves is someone I would want watching my back."

Her words seemed to have some effect on the older woman, as all words of rejection seemed to melt in her throat. Reaching out her hand, Light asked, "So how about it? Would you become my advisor, Miss…?"

The employee paused for a brief moment before finally sighing and returning Light’s smile.

"Fannett. Rose Fannett. Fine, I accept, despite it meaning even more work for me… Also, before you get any funny ideas, I do not date adventurers."
