Chapter 15 Revenge

"I'm not going to kill you," Jack muttered.

  Yueh is surprised.

Jack frowned. “Your wife. They told you she would live and be returned to you if you cooperated.” Jack said as he glanced at him.

"How long have they had her?"

  Yueh's eyes flickered.

Jack kept going quietly saying, "They aren't going to release her, Yueh."

  "You know that."

"Somewhere under all that hope… You already know."

"Men like the Baron don't release leverage. Ever."

"Stop..." Yueh muttered, his mouth shivering.

  "She is alive..." he muttered.

"They will return her if I listen to them!" Yueh shouted.

  Silence.

  Jack sat down beside him.

"How long ago did they take her away from you?" Jack softly asked

"A..." Yueh was gonna say something but he stopped, he shut his eyes, his jaw tightly clenched.

"How long ago Yueh?" Jack softly asked again.

"Two years ago..." Yueh forced himself to say.

Jack was silent for a few moments.

"I might not be able to save her Yueh, if she is even alive anymore, but I can promise you one thing here," Jack said.

Yueh glanced at Jack waiting for him to continue.

  Jack paused.

“But I can promise you this.”

“The men who took her will pay for it.”

"I want to give you the chance to... get revenge for your wife."

"I want to give you the chance to destroy them." Jack muttered.

  Yueh was silent.

"How did House Atreides discover that I was compromised?" Yueh asked, staring at Jack.

Jack was silent for a moment before he spoke, "They didn't discover anything."

  Yueh's brows creased in confusion.

  "Then how...?" Yueh asked.

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.

  "I saw it,"

"Saw what?" Yueh asked with confusion.

  "A vision," Jack said.

  "A... vision?"

  "Yes," Jack nodded.

  Yueh scoffed in disbelief.

"Do you want revenge, Yueh?" Jack asked.

  Yueh was silent.

Yueh looked down for a few moments before he nodded.

  "Yes..."

"I want revenge on them," Yueh muttered glancing up at Jack.

"Good, what is the latest communication you have had with the Harkonens?" Jack asked.

  "Two days ago," Yueh muttered.

"They wanted me to keep an eye on when the defences are at their weakest," Yueh muttered seeming to hesitate saying more.

"Is there anything else?" Jack asked seriously.

"It's not related to House Atreides" Yueh muttered avoiding the topic.

  Jack was silent.

'Perhaps it's best not to pry,' Jack thought to himself.

Jack was just about to speak when Yueh spoke.

"I asked them to show proof Yana is still alive..." Yueh muttered.

  "Did they?"

  Yueh shook his head.

  "No..."

  "I see," Jack softly said.

"How much time do you have before you have to report your findings?" Jack asked.

"They gave me one month," Yueh said.

'Adds up, they still need time to prepare their own troops and the Sardaukar.'

"Okay, we have time then," Jack said, "Return to your duties as if nothing has changed. I will inform you what to tell them later," Jack said as he began untying the curtain wrapping around Yueh.

  ...

Jack made sure to clean his neck to get rid of any obvious traces of injury, he also changed clothes and began looking for Thufir.

He walked around for a few minutes before he spotted Thufir.

  "Thufir!" Jack called him out.

Thufir turned around and saw Jack.

"Young Paul, how may I help you?" Thufir asked with a smile.

"Thufir, I need to speak to you privately," Jack said seriously.

"Of course," Thufir nodded, his smile receding a little seeing Jack's seriousness, "Follow me," Thufir said as he began leading Jack to a room where they could sit and talk.

Moments later, they had arrived at the room and were sitting opposite each other.

"What is the matter?" Thufir asked curiously.

"Thufir... Yueh confessed some things to me today..." Jack said meanwhile Thufir waited patiently.

"Two years ago, the Harkonnens kidnapped his wife."

"So Yueh is compromised?" Thufir asked.

  "No," Jack immediately disagreed.

  "Not anymore..."

"He came to me and confessed everything, he wants revenge on the Harkonens."

"He told me that the Harkonens have most recently instructed him to observe Atreides patterns and times the defences are the weakest, and the House is at its most vulnerable times," Jack said.

"Why did Yueh decide to confess to you?" Thufir asked.

"I noticed Yueh's deterioration over the weeks. The sleeplessness. The stress. So I confronted him," Jack said.

"Confronted?" Thufir asked, Jack noticed his eyes glancing around and they landed on his neck, exactly where the cleaned-up injury was.

  'Did he find out?!'

It was only for a moment, but he wouldn't put it past a Mentat not to notice even a cleaned wound.

"Yes, I confronted him on this and he broke down, it seemed like the weight was too much for him to hold on his own."

"And you believe what he has said?" Thufir questioned.

  "Yes," Jack seriously nodded.

Thufir was silent for a few moments.

  His eyes flickered white.

  “Very well.”

  “If Yueh truly seeks revenge…”

  “Then we will use it.”

"How long was he asked to observe for?" Thufir asked.

  "One month"

Thufir's eyes flashed white for a moment.

"I told him to keep performing tasks as usual," Jack said.

"He is now a double agent," Thufir said, and Jack nodded.

"What was their plan?" Thufir asked.

'Yueh himself doesn't know the full plan yet. But I do' Jack thought to himself.

"They had asked him to give all key members sleeping pills and lower shield surrounding Arrakeen," Jack said.

Thufir took in a deep breath.

He was silent for many moments before he nodded.

"Young Paul, you will be in charge of maintaining communications with Yueh on this matter, other than that, he will go about with his usual duties."

Jack nodded as he stood up and left the room.

Thufir sat inside the room with a heavy silence around him.

His eyes flickered white for a long moment before they returned to normal.

"Our plans must be rapidly accelerated," Thufir muttered, his hand reaching towards the earpiece. He activated it.

"Sire, it is Thufir," He said.

"What's the matter Thufir?" Leto questioned.

"I have been brought a very serious matter, we must immediately discuss it if possible."
