Chapter 69: Auntie! If you don't come the hell out here right now!
“Five Half-step Second word Engraver..” Leader Mei gritted his teeth. Their manpower was insufficient. The energy barrier had shattered, and the aftermath of the battle could harm the villagers at any moment.
“Kasa Rain, quickly alert all the soldiers to evacuate the villagers immediately!” Princess Pailin shouted. At this moment, the safety of the villagers was paramount.
Those Devil beasts seemed to have gained intelligence. They stared at Leader Mei, Napha, and Gion with bloodthirsty eyes. Instead of attacking immediately, the five of them split into five directions, charging towards the villagers who were frantically fleeing!
These Devil beasts decide to target the weak first!
“Damn it!” Princess Pailin cursed without caring about her status. She tore off her cloak, whipping it violently to create a wall blocking two of the Devil beasts.
Leader Mei charged towards the other two Devil beasts nearby. The energy she received from her treasures was still strong. Even though time was running out and dealing with two Half-step Second word Engraver Devil beasts was incredibly difficult, she had to do it!
Napha, Gion, Tawan, and Kasa charged towards the last beast. The power disparity was too great. Even with their combined strength, they could only hold back one.
The situation became even more critical when Princess Pailin's magical barrier rapidly crumbled. The combined power of the two Devil beasts was far too great for her First word Engraver-level treasure to withstand.
Two Devil beasts surged towards the villagers in the distance. Seeing this, the villagers' faces turned pale. The pressure emanating from these two Devil beasts was immense.
"Auntie! Pailin will use one of my chances to ask for aid! Please deal with these Devil beasts and protect the villagers!" Princess Pailin cried out, staring up at the sky. Her eyes were bloodshot from all the stress.
But there was no response. The sky remained still, with only the moon shining brightly in the middle.
Everyone in Unit 3 gritted their teeth and turned to look. They knew Princess Pailin had a strong secret bodyguard. That person wouldn't reveal themselves unless absolutely necessary.
"Auntie!" Princess Pailin screamed again. But even this time, there was no response. She gritted her teeth until they almost broke. She can’t waste any more time. She attached a talisman on her back, and then two pairs of elegant white wings appeared. With those wings increasing her speed, she flew after the two Devil beasts.
At least she had to buy some time. Unit 3 might be able to do something while she stalls for time! Even though it was a glimmer of hope, at this moment, she had to gamble on it!
The remaining members of Unit 3 wore grim expressions. The fact that Princess Pailin's true bodyguard refused to appear was bad news for them.
The two Devil beasts were almost out of Unit 3's sight, and on their side were hundreds of villagers evacuating! Pailin was getting further and further away from Unit 3. At this moment, this area consisted only of her, hundreds of villagers, and the two Devil beasts.
"Princess Pailin! It's too dangerous! Princess!" Leader Mei shouted, trying to stop Princess Pailin, but the two Devil beasts in front of her were too overwhelming for her to escape.
In that instant, while no one was able to move, a dark shadow darted in close pursuit of Princess Pailin.
"Nitaan! Bring Princess Pailin back!" Tawan yelled. In this critical moment, he saw Princess Pailin recklessly rush out and Nitaan, riding on Kiita's back, chasing after her.
They breathed a sigh of relief when they saw the dark shadow easily catch up to the winged Princess Pailin.
"Don't get in my way! I must protect them!" Princess Pailin said fiercely. At this moment, her eyes were only on the many villagers trembling with fear. Even though she was just a Newborn who had discovered a Word of Power, she wouldn't let them die before her eyes without trying to do anything.
NitaanKiita didn't hinder Princess Pailin as Unit 3 wanted. Unit 3 watched as both of them sped up until they caught up with the two Devil beasts. They saw a flash of blue light emitted from Nitaan, and then a crackling sound of lightning followed.
The narrative has been taken without authorization; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
"I know. That's why I came to help," Nitaan said firmly, his deep blue eyes gleaming brightly. A heavy silver spear spun wildly in his hand, flashes of lightning coursing through its axis. The speed and lightning created an azure glow on the spearhead.
Gravitational pull and lightning spun the spear so rapidly that its color faded. The entire spear spun so fast that it appeared as just a streak of white and blue light in Nitaan's hands. He aimed with both hands forward, targeting the half-tiger, half-eagle beast in front of him.
The second before Nitaan fired the spear, his entire body unleashed all the power. Kiita's speed slowed slightly while Nitaan's spiritual energy soared. Speed, strength, and spiritual energy—almost all of it—were channeled to Nitaan for this one attack.
This time, Colonel Lalanta wasn't nearby, so the power he received was limited and minimal. However, it was still enough for one attack!
Half-Second Enlightenment!
The white and blue spear was fired with a powerful thrust, as fast as thought. The impact of the spear against the air caused NitaanKiita to cough up blood. Nitaan's arms were severely burned, and even his gloves were showing signs of decay.
An azure meteor streaked through the air with a deafening crackling sound. The lightning ripped through the surrounding air and surfaces, leaving burn marks and a pungent smell.
Falling Vajra, moving as fast as a flash of light, pierced the body of the half-tiger, half-eagle beast without any warning. Its body twitched from the attack's speed, too great to detect or dodge. It crashed to the ground, its body sliding forward from the force of the impact. All its power vanished, and a burning stench emanated from its body.
Half-step Second word Engraver Devil beast, a half-tiger, half-eagle, dead!
The Tree-Man Devil beast froze. It turned to look behind it in terror. Previously, although it had sensed a powerful energy behind it, its primal instincts had urged it to kill the weak, so it just ignored it.
But now that the half-tiger, half-eagle beast had died in an instant, fear overshadowed its instincts. In a flash, a red light engulfed its eyes. Instinct once again intruded upon its thoughts.
Princess Pailin froze. Even in the empty air, slight turbulence arose.
"Kiita!" The breathless Nitaan gathered his last ounce of strength and struck the back of the black dog beneath him, channeling all his remaining power into him. Kiita lunged into battle with the Tree-Man.
Nitaan's body was flung away, crashing heavily to the ground nearby. Nitaan was breathless, his face pale, yet he struggled to get up. He had no strength left, only able to watch Kiita fight the Tree-Man. His burnt hands ached with every movement.
Nitaan weakly took a sip from a pink potion, followed by a blue potion to restore his spiritual energy. Even after drinking, it only helped him breathe more easily. The burns on his hands still throbbed, and he wouldn't be able to use them for a long time.
Kiita's body was now completely black. His black fur shone brightly like fine steel. In his mouth, he clutched a Verdant Punisher, lashing out with lightning speed. His speed and power were only slightly inferior to the Tree-Man.
Unable to use ‘Chase’ on Colonel Lalanta anymore, Kiita did something simpler, something he always did:
Chase his enemy!
Target: The Tree-Man Devil Beast!
Kiita swung his body, unleashing Verdant Punisher. However, as the Tree-Man merely extended its hand, a massive number of trees sprouted from the ground, blocking Kiita's Verdant Punisher.
The vast number of trees then exploded violently, unleashing all the power contained within the emerald knife, creating a cloud of smoke that obscured vision.
Kiita leaped around to attack, but the Tree-Man blocked with its hand. Instinctively, Kiita flipped in midair, rapidly increasing his weight, causing his body to slam violently to the ground.
‘Gravity’!
A massive number of trees and roots sprouted and grew from the Tree-Man's chest, forming a large cage that nearly trapped Kiita if he hadn't dodged in time.
Kiita swung his head, hurling Verdant Punisher. The Tree-Man easily dodged the attack with a slight tilt of his head, but the knife spun around and pierced his back.
‘Link’!
The explosion created a large hole in the Tree-Man's back. Green blood gushed out. Verdant Punisher had only unleashed its power earlier, so this explosion wasn't very powerful. Tree-Man Devil beast showed no sign of pain. A bright light shone from the center of its forehead, and new tissue instantly grew through the hole in its body, healing at a rapid rate.
The difference between a Learner and an Engraver!
A Learner may possess diverse powers, but all of them remain at the Learner level. However, for an Engraver, who perfectly comprehends their words, they don’t need to use their other yet to comprehend words at all.
With just the word that they are able to comprehend, it is enough to suppress all Learners. If the situation calls for and they find it hard to fight, they can still use their other words at any time.
Fortunately, this Devil beast was consumed by primal instincts, thus only utilizing words it had fully comprehended. The remaining Words of Power were completely obscured.
Kiita struggled, each passing second increasing his disadvantage. His ‘Chase’ has a limit. The stronger the target, the less power Kiita gained and the shorter the time. This doesn't even account for the fact that Kiita initially shared most of his power with Nitaan, exchanging it for the Falling Vajra and Half-Second Enlightenment to kill one Devil beast.
Kiita was far from his perfect state!
Princess Pailin, watching the scene in stunned disbelief, quickly regained her composure. She knew that while the situation had improved considerably, it was nowhere near safe.
She pulled out the other earring. The pearl inside was instantly crushed, shattering into two. One piece flew towards Nitaan, the other towards Kiita.
Nitaan's exhaustion and spiritual energy improved noticeably. Even the burns on his hands began healing at a visibly rapid pace. Kiita also received a boost in power and speed.
This earring of Princess Pailin, while not as magnificent as Three Stage circlet, was still a powerful support treasure.
This was one of her support treasures. Another was Three Stage circlet she gave to Leader Mei, which allowed her to fight Sila and Devil beasts alone. This one, however, was of a lower level and not as effective.
She quickly ran to Nitaan's side, feeding him a recovery potion. Although Nitaan now had enough strength to stand up, he was still far from ready to participate in the fight.
Meanwhile, his spiritual power continued to flow to Kiita. Even though Kiita knew Nitaan was barely able to continue, Nitaan was still sending all his spiritual energy and Word of Powers to Kiita. If Nitaan stopped sending power, Kiita would not be able to handle this Devil beast.
Princess Pailin gritted her teeth. She knew this wasn't enough. She looked up at the turbulent sky, grabbed Nitaan's dagger, and held it to her own throat. Her eyes were filled with determination, yet half of them blazed with madness.
"Auntie! If you don't come the hell out here right now, Pailin will slit her own throat in front of you!" Princess Pailin shrieked.
