Chapter 8: The Fury of the Beautiful Teacher
“Beast, let go of my senior!” A melodious female voice like that of an oriole came from behind Zhang Yang, followed by the rapid sound of high heels striking the stone path.
Zhang Yang instinctively turned around, and at once his mind went blank, his face drained of color, turning to stone.
Because the newcomers were the beautiful teaching assistant Yang Fei and Xia Weiwei—the same Xia Weiwei who had scolded him and Zhou Wei yesterday. The voice belonged to Xia Weiwei, while Yang Fei’s expression was darker than ever. Her beautiful eyes were fixed coldly on Zhang Yang’s hand, her flawless face utterly emotionless, like an iceberg that had slept for centuries.
The sky suddenly darkened—not literally, but in Zhang Yang’s eyes, it was as if the world dimmed, brewing a storm.
His nearly frozen fingers trembled as he pulled his hand away from Xu Danlu’s chest. Looking at Yang Fei, his lips moved several times, too dry to form words.
“What are you doing?” Yang Fei’s tone was calm, as casual as someone asking for directions.
Zhang Yang glanced at Xu Danlu, who was now covering her face and crying uncontrollably. He sighed bitterly. “If I said I was saving the world… saving humanity… would you believe me?”
“Saving humanity? More like trying to reproduce it,” Xia Weiwei sneered.
Yang Fei ignored him, turning her head away. Her gaze bypassed Zhang Yang and landed gently on Xu Danlu. “Danlu, you and Weiwei should return to the dorm,” she said softly.
“But…” Xu Danlu glanced at Zhang Yang reluctantly. He still hadn’t given her the item. If he was punished by the school, he might release it out of spite—and she’d be doomed too.
“But what? I’ll handle it.” Yang Fei’s tone was still calm, but her gaze grew sharper. “Go.”
Hearing that, Xu Danlu bit her lip, about to turn and leave. Zhang Yang, however, stopped her and pulled a USB drive from his pocket, handing it to her with a weary smile. “Take it. It’s the only copy.”
Xu Danlu hesitated for a moment, then reached out and took it.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t want it to turn out like this either.” Zhang Yang sighed again, his lips unbearably dry. He had no idea how to describe his feelings now.
Just as Xia Weiwei’s voice had sounded, that damned Nuwa System had also spoken in his mind.
【Suspected target scanned. Star Mender match rate: 0.7%. Notification: target disqualified! Match failed! No M-level reward granted. One system point awarded instead. Next automatic suspected target scan scheduled in one month, or consume 30 system points to restart immediately.】
Meaning he had gone through all that effort, touched Xu Danlu’s chest, and now he was screwed—all for nothing. What kind of cosmic joke was this? Was heaven deliberately toying with him?
Not only was there no reward, but now he might get expelled.
Damn it, what the hell is this!
“I thought you weren’t that kind of person!” Xu Danlu glared at Zhang Yang, then at the USB drive in her hand. Without hesitation, she turned away angrily and left quickly with Xia Weiwei, who shot Zhang Yang a look of contempt.
Stolen from Royal Road, this story should be reported if encountered on Amazon.
Yang Fei stayed, silently gazing out at the lake.
Today, she wore a sky-blue dress that reached her knees but couldn’t hide the allure of her long, slender legs. On her feet were ten-centimeter heels, making her nearly the same height as Zhang Yang as they stood face to face.
A faint fragrance drifted from her—a clean, lemony scent, the kind Zhang Yang liked.
“I won’t report this to the school.” After a long silence, she finally spoke. Her eyes never once met his, but her words still surprised him. She didn’t intend to take this to the administration.
“Thank you, teacher.”
“No need. And don’t think it’s because you saved my life yesterday,” Yang Fei said as she walked away along the lakeshore. “But remember this—whenever I’m teaching, I don’t want to see you in my class.”
With that, she left, her back as cold as ice.
Don’t want to see me in her class—that meant she didn’t want him attending her lectures. She didn’t want to see him at all.
Zhang Yang couldn’t complain. For a teacher to be so angry she didn’t want her own student in class—it showed just how much she despised him.
Watching Yang Fei’s graceful figure fade into the distance, Zhang Yang felt utterly depressed. How had she even found out about today?
Thinking back, Xia Weiwei’s angry expression flashed in his mind. He slapped his thigh, blaming himself. Damn it! Yesterday, he and Zhou Wei had been whispering behind her back about using the video against Bai Liangfeng. Could she have overheard? But back then, the plan was aimed at Bai Liangfeng, not Xu Danlu. Did that girl… follow him?
Either way, today was a complete disaster. Somehow, he had managed to offend every major beauty in Meining University.
Damn you, Nuwa System. You’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you?
Zhang Yang slammed his fist against a tree trunk, then picked up a small stone and hurled it into the lake. The pebble skipped three or four times before sinking reluctantly.
As soon as it sank, the system’s voice returned: 【System owner, you have damaged public property and disturbed environmental harmony. Two system points deducted. Current balance: -1. Title: Uncaring Ordinary Human. Tip: Performing one good deed may yield a random reward of 0–3 points. At 30 points, an M-level mission directive may be unlocked. Warning: if points fall below -100, title will downgrade to ‘Human Scum Maggot,’ and the Nuwa System will automatically uninstall.】
Zhang Yang was stunned. Doing bad things cost him points?
And it could uninstall itself?
All he did was throw a rock and hit a tree, and he’d already lost two points. Did that mean he’d have to tiptoe through life from now on?
What the hell is this?
Zhang Yang grabbed his hair with both hands, twisting in frustration, wishing he could rip that damn system out of his head.
【As the system owner, can’t you just earn points by doing good deeds? Is it necessary to mope like this?】 The Nuwa System sounded equally annoyed.
Zhang Yang paused. Right, come to think of it, he did have control over that. Doing good deeds? Easy enough.
Anyone watching him on the way back to the dorm would have seen him picking up litter from the ground and carefully tossing it into trash bins. If he wore a yellow jacket, he’d look exactly like a street cleaner.
According to his rough count, he bent down over thirty times. He even found a used sanitary pad in the grass—but every time, the system only said: 【System owner’s motive impure. Reward: 0 points.】
Damn it! So to earn points, he had to do good deeds unconsciously?
When he returned to the dorm, he found Zhou Wei alone, watching a Japanese adult film while jerking off. Zhang Yang shook his head speechlessly. Would helping this guy quit count as a good deed?
Zhou Wei froze when he saw Zhang Yang, quickly placing his hand over his crotch. “So, how’d it go?” he asked casually.
That morning, Zhang Yang had told him he had something to take care of, and since he’d been holding that copied file, everyone knew what it was about. Zhou Wei had even excitedly told him to record it if anything happened.
Zhang Yang twisted his neck and flopped onto his bed like a sandbag. “Keep going, man. Don’t bother me.”
Zhou Wei paused mid-motion, frowning. “Didn’t go well, huh? You weren’t ruthless enough! I told you, you idiot—if I’d gone, I’d have nailed her in no time. You wasted a perfect chance, damn!”
Zhang Yang lay back with his hands behind his head and shot him a glare. “If I’d known, I’d have sent you instead. Then the one caught by Teacher Yang wouldn’t have been me.”
“Wait—caught? You mean you got caught? By Teacher Yang?!” Zhou Wei jumped up, thrilled. “Tell me! Was it mid-act or before the act? And did she take the thing?”
“Damn you, pervert! Of course it was before anything happened. And I gave the drive back to Xu Danlu. The teacher didn’t see it.” Zhang Yang knew better than to expect sympathy from Zhou Wei when it came to anything sexual. The guy only cared if it was arousing.
“Ah, tough luck then…” Zhou Wei zipped up, turned off the video, then suddenly slapped his head. “Wait—you said Teacher Yang caught you? You mean Yang Fei, the English teacher?”
“Who else? That’s the only Yang teacher I know.”
“Damn!” Zhou Wei slapped his thigh, eyes gleaming. “You lucky bastard! Caught by Teacher Yang means you got a close-up encounter! I’m so jealous! Why don’t I ever get that kind of chance?”
Zhang Yang had expected a word of sympathy, but the guy was actually envious. He could only sigh speechlessly. If Zhou Wei knew not only had he met Yang Fei face-to-face but also seen her underwear, the idiot would probably jump off a building.
“Crap… oh no…”
While Zhang Yang was still brooding over system points, Zhou Wei suddenly gasped again.
Zhang Yang shot him an irritated glance. “Spit it out.”
“You said you were caught by Yang Fei, right? I bet you’re screwed this time.” Zhou Wei’s face finally showed a bit of sympathy. “If she tells Bai Gang, you’re done for.”
Bai Gang was their department counselor—a PhD graduate from the College of Chemical Engineering who stayed to teach. More importantly, he was Bai Liangfeng’s cousin. Last time, because of Zhang Yang’s conflict with Bai Liangfeng, Bai Gang had made sure the whole school publicly criticized him.
If this incident reached his hands, a simple public warning wouldn’t save Zhang Yang this time.
“I don’t think so. Teacher Yang said she wouldn’t tell the school. She doesn’t seem like the type to go back on her word.” Zhang Yang recalled her tone—she had been clear enough.
Zhou Wei put a finger to his lips, shaking it with a lewd grin. “No, no, no. She might’ve promised not to tell, but don’t forget—Bai Gang’s the closest man to her right now. Who knows what she’ll let slip? And you, idiot, gave the USB back to Xu Danlu. Without any leverage, she’s definitely going to Bai Liangfeng to complain! You’re screwed. I thought I was dumb, but you’re even dumber.”
