Chapter 5: The First Step Toward Town

The breeze of the grasslands still carried the crisp scent of fresh grass. Sunlight spilled over Yggdrasil’s sturdy back, reflecting off his short and thick physique. Standing atop a small hill, he gazed toward the faintly rising ridge in the distance; he knew in his heart that it led toward civilization—the true starting point of his journey in this world.

"This body, this power... now, it is time to take the first step."

He gently summoned his storage space—a form of magic activated through intent, bestowed upon him by Zareon during his rebirth, containing the essentials needed to sustain the early stages of his travels. As the warm divine energy flowed, a transparent and vast expanse unfolded within his consciousness.

  "Let’s see..."

With a wave of his hand in the air, a thick traveler’s coat, a steady and unadorned two-handed battle axe, a set of water skins and dried rations, and several silver and gold coins appeared before him. The battle axe felt heavy in his hand; though its blade lacked ornamentation, it was incomparably sharp. The traveler’s gear hugged his rounded yet powerful body perfectly, fitting him like a second skin.

A small smirk played on Yggdrasil’s lips. "It’s not 'god-tier' gear, but it’s more than enough."

His heart brimmed with gratitude toward the Creator God. Zareon had not forced him to start from nothing; instead, He had quietly paved a path for his departure. The food was sparse but enough to last a few days. The money was modest, but sufficient for emergencies. This was exactly what Yggdrasil needed—to walk into the world through his own strength, rather than being dragged forward by miracles.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

As he organized his equipment, he activated his other talent: "Identify."

A faint, sacred light flickered in his eyes. Information regarding the battle axe’s material, durability, and cleaving power immediately surfaced in his mind. He then looked toward his boots and clothing, perceiving their materials, performance, and even the precision of the stitching.

"This ability is more detailed than the 'Identify' skill back in my gaming days..."

Yggdrasil couldn't help but feel a sense of inner triumph. Mastering this magical structure, which combined modern logic with a different world's system, was exactly his forte. He knew this power would help him judge equipment, herbs, monsters, and even the personalities or abnormal statuses of people in the future.

He packed away his items, adjusted his coat, and shouldered his simple rucksack. His large belly swayed slightly in the sunlight as his sturdy legs took a steady first step. In that moment, Yggdrasil’s figure—small yet determined—set foot upon the road leading toward the human settlements.

"Alright then. Towns, dwarves, adventures... wait for me."

He looked back once more at the sacred grassland that had given him new life, offering a silent prayer to Zareon. Then, carrying the determination and longing brought over from the modern world, he walked into the distant and unknown world.

He did not yet know that on this journey, he would not only face monsters and conspiracies but also encounter his greatest love and his destiny. This single step was the beginning of all legends.
