Chapter 6: The Large Boar Hunt

The morning sun shone over Losthill as Kaito and Serena packed their gear.

Serena carefully checked her staff and a few pouches of herbs. “We need to be prepared today. This Large Boar isn’t like the Fang Rabbits.”

Kaito adjusted his spear and backpack. “Don’t worry. Between my magic and your skills, we should be fine. Let’s just stay calm and work together.”

The two of them left the inn, walking toward the dense forest where the quest was assigned. Along the way, Serena showed Kaito a few small techniques with her Water and Wind magic, and he returned the favor by demonstrating a small Earth spike trick.

  Lunch time

Kaito prepare the place to seat and make a campfire then kaito pull out the deer meat from his item box with

cooking gear that he bought in the town.

Serena help cutting the meat while kaito watching his rice that he cook and prepare to make meat grill.

After enjoy the lunch kaito and serena rest for a bit and kaito “ we haven’t seen the boar trace yet”

Serena “Maybe we need to walk into the deep of the forest.”

Kaito nodded “Hmm okay we will rest for a bit then we will continue”

Serena smile “okay let take a few minutes rest”

Few minutes of resting done they clean the place and moving forward into the foreest.

After an hour of walking , the forest thickened, and they finally caught sight of it: the Large Boar.

They follow the boar step trace and then there is massive — 1.55 meters tall and 2 meters long — its tusks glinting in the sunlight. The beast snorted aggressively, pawing the ground as if daring them to come closer.

Kaito took a deep breath. “Serena, we need to bind it first!”

He quickly cast Earth Bind, thick roots erupting from the ground and wrapping around the boar’s legs. The creature struggled, but it was trapped, at least for a moment.

Serena aimed her bow, murmured an incantation, and fired an Ice Arrow. It struck the boar’s side, leaving a small icy wound, but barely slowed it down.

“Not bad,” Kaito muttered. “Time for the real hit.” He drew on his Fire attribute and shot a Fire Arrow straight at the creature’s eyes. Both eyes were destroyed, and the boar squealed, stumbling backward.

Serena’s eyes narrowed. “Now!” she yelled, firing a Wind Cutter. Sharp, slicing currents of air cut through the boar’s thick hide, leaving deep gashes.

The Large Boar howled in pain but, despite its injuries, broke free of the Earth Bind and charged wildly through the forest.

“Serena! Attack it to push it toward me!” Kaito shouted. She nodded, launching a barrage of magical projectiles to drive the boar forward.

Kaito’s hands glowed as he conjured a solid stone wall directly in the boar’s path. With a deafening crash, the beast slammed into the wall and fell unconscious.

Kaito approached carefully, then pulled a spear from his Item Box and delivered the final strike. The Large Boar was dead.

Exhausted but triumphant, Kaito rested for a moment, then guided Serena to a safer path out of the deep forest. The sun was already beginning to set.

Near a riverbank, they decided to make camp for the night. Kaito set up a small tent with wooden pillars and fabric, while Serena used her Ice Arrow to catch fish from the river. Together, they prepared fish soup and grilled fish over a campfire.

Once the fire was lit, Kaito prepared fish soup and grilled fish. Serena helped stir the soup and place the fish on the grill.

Serena tasted a spoonful of the soup and smiled. “I never thought it would be so easy to cook outside.”

Kaito chuckled. “Haha, that depends on what food you cook.”

Serena laughed lightly. “Yes every food you cooked is really good… I’m full of energy after eating such delicious food you cook.”

She glanced at Kaito, who immediately felt his cheeks warm. He quickly looked away, whispering to himself, she’s really good with words.

After finishing their meal, Serena tilted her head thoughtfully. “How many days are you planning to stay in the village?”

Kaito rubbed the back of his neck. “I think one or two weeks. I want to prepare enough supplies to travel to the next town or city.”

Serena’s eyes lowered slightly. “Do you… travel by walking?”

“Yes,” Kaito replied, smiling faintly. “It feels comfortable to me, even if it takes a long time.”

Serena ask “do you any companion to accompany you to travel?”

Kaito “well, I am traveling alone also I have never met anyone who have this kind of intention so yes I am doing

  this all by myself.”

She looked up, her blue eyes sparkling, though her head remained lowered. “Do you… like to travel alone? What if I tag along with you… would you feel comfortable traveling with me?”

Kaito’s heart skipped. He hesitated, then smiled softly, a faint blush rising. “I… I think it would be nice.”

The night air settled around them, stars glittering above the river. The forest was quiet except for the gentle ripple of the water and the occasional crackle of the dying fire.

Somewhere in the shadows of the trees, unseen and silent, a rustling sound echoed…

Tomorrow, their first journey together as partners would continue—but not everything in the forest would be as peaceful as it seemed.
