Chapter 10: New things

For the past few days, all I've done is sleep. To numb the incredible pain, but how did I end up here? Looking around with my left eye, I saw so many new things. They were so colorful! So much better than what I saw when we were in that damp place.

The new things were so interesting!A huge thing with a door, boxes with even more doors, and two more things on four legs. One of them was covered in something thin, the other thicker.

All of this captivated my little brain. I tried to get up, but due to the immense pain, I only took a few steps on the cold floor before falling onto my buttocks. Cold! I went back and wrapped my blanket around myself. I hoped it would warm me up at least a little.

I felt the very, very cold floor beneath my feet. It reminded me of my eye, which couldn't see anything... Well, sort of saw, but in it, everything looked incredibly cloudy and white. It was as if my right eye were caught in an eternal snowstorm. So strong that I couldn't see anything in front of it.

I approached the little squares. There were quite a few of them! If I can count them correctly, there were about six of them! On top of each of them, at the level of my head, was a strange protruding thing. And like a true child (which I basically was), I reached for it. Just grabbing it didn't do anything. A little desperate, I started to pull my hand away... BUT! As soon as I pulled my hand away, the small wall with the handle melted. I looked into the small crack and saw... something clearly interesting! I reached out again and, gripping the handle tighter, began to pull it toward me. Opening the door all the way, I saw some more hard things. They vaguely resembled milk cans. Why would anyone need so many of them?

Opening them further, I found hard sticks with round ends. A similar object was larger, but the round part was more indented. Sometimes there were also broken round objects. Even rarer were whole round objects with a few chips. These round objects usually had colorful images on them. They were indescribably beautiful. As if they were real, not just painted on.

I've seen many, many such objects. The contents of these magical boxes remained almost unchanged.

Opening one of these cabinets, I found an object. I looked at it. It was shaped like my foot, only twice as big, and made of some strange material. It was dark brown. And it was very soft.

Feeling a strong cold on my feet, I brought these "things" closer and easily slipped my foot inside.

To me, these objects were many times bigger than my feet. So even taking one step, the thing melted off my leg, but they made me walk much warmer and more comfortable.

I wish I could find something that would cover not just my legs, but my entire body. My blanket wasn't helping at all. It was too torn and ripped.

Approaching the large thing shaped like my new, warm legs, I examined it from all sides. The black door was the most interesting thing.

I started to pull the door. But it didn't budge. Again!

  AGAIN!

  AAH.

  YES!

When I opened the door, a black mist flew out at me. I cleared my throat and rubbed my left eye, only to be met by all-consuming darkness. I literally couldn't see anything beyond that door.

A little frightened, I peered into that abyss one more time before closing it forever... Or so I hoped.

My next stop was a large wooden table with four legs and a thin blanket on top. Unfortunately, I could barely see what was on it. I was too short.

Pouting, I took offense at the table and moved on.

And now, exactly the same wooden table with four legs, but now a much thicker blanket was visible from above.

Also lying next to this structure were some open squares. Like the ones before... But also different...

Those opened when I pulled my hand toward me, but these looked like they opened upward, not sideways. After examining the squares next to the bed, not underneath it, I concluded that there was nothing there. Of course, I couldn't reach the ones under the bed in the corner. But still...

Looking at these chests, an incredible idea popped into my little brain!

I started moving them with my tiny hands. Or rather, trying to move them. I braced my hands against the side of the chest. No matter how hard I pushed, they barely budged.

Finally! After a short while, all the chests lined up perfectly!

I wish I could say so, but unfortunately, in all that time, I only managed to move the first chest a couple of centimeters. My legs and arms ached with pain, not only from something I couldn't understand, but also from the fact that my tiny muscles were tired from all that work.

But me! Determined to move them and bend them to my will (heh-heh), I didn't let up in my attempts to move them.

With enormous heaviness, one by one, they moved.

Finally, having pushed the last small chest right up to the large ones, I collapsed, exhausted, and looked at my creation. Any perfectionist would have fallen from such a setup... I was so pleased with my work!

Little by little, I began to climb up them. Only now did I realize how high they were. They were up to my neck!

At first, I tried to pull myself up with my weakened arms... But it obviously had no effect.

Realizing that my technique was doomed to failure, I decided to try something different.

Standing on the tips of my toes, I tried again to climb those incredible mountains...

But there it was again! I couldn't resist! And I was so close!

After trying a couple more times, I decided to change tactics.

This time, I decided to bend my legs and straighten them sharply! Now I jumped!

  Why didn't I grab it?

Repeating all my leg movements, this time I managed to grab the chest and climb up.

There! All that was left was to climb onto the chest just above the one I was standing on.

  I started to climb like...

Time seemed to stand still around me...

I could see every ray of sunlight from the window.

No flying speck of dust could escape my gaze.

  My breathing became incredibly even.

  And my heartbeat quickened.

  Anxiety was in my head!

But why? I felt the same way when that gray animal attacked me. Could there really be danger again?

Where did it come from? Looking carefully at everything in front of me, I saw nothing dangerous... Well, that makes sense! So the danger is behind me!

I heard quiet footsteps. They sounded like they had two pairs of legs. Did they really know I was here? But then again, who could need me?

Without time to turn around and see who was behind the door, I quickly began to think of places I could hide. My gaze fell on the blanket in front of me. It was lying right in front of me on the tree. I quickly climbed onto the chest and slid under the blanket.

The only thing I managed to do before the door opened was turn around so that only my head peeked out from under my "shelter".

  The door swung open...

The evening sun's rays flooded the entrance; it was almost impossible to see anything beyond it. A yellow light obscured my vision.

Only one silhouette peered out from these gates of paradise.

  A four-legged monster...

  Oh no!

  It's just my kind fox!

Time returned to normal. And I emerged from my hiding place and slowly began to crawl down my stairs.

I ran up to the fox and was about to hug her. But I managed to catch a strange smell. And when I raised my left eye to her mouth, I saw a red liquid. Instinctively, I felt uneasy. Because I saw that liquid. And I don't have the best memories of her. But on the other hand... she's my protector, the fox! So she's a good one.

With a wry smile, I hugged my savior by her silver front paws.

  OH!

  She's brrrrr... Incredibly cold!

Quickly pulling away from her, I stood in front of her. She looked at the mess I'd made, nodded slowly, and walked further into the house. Without even turning around, she closed the door with her daggers! Beautiful... I wish I could learn to do that! Become as cool as she is.

A small dagger flew in front of me, deliberately slowing down so I could get a closer look.

I saw how its handle and blade became more defined. As if the fox had specially decorated it to show it off. It seemed to truly replicate the shape of the dagger. Her cold dagger refracted the light falling on it, making it incredibly beautiful. As if the sun goddess herself had bestowed her beauty upon this dagger. The handle was small compared to the blade, but even so, it looked very interesting, as if it were wrapped around the handle in this cold material. The blade, sharp on both sides, seemed incredibly smooth to me. Even flying so slowly, it seemed to cut through the air to fly. I thought I'd seen something like this somewhere... Exactly! I turned my head to the right and saw with my left eye an identical dagger! Only the one lying on the floor seemed larger, and it didn't exude endless cold.

So what if I can create such beauty?
