The Axiom Edge Upgrade

  Chapter 21

There was a rumble suddenly that shook the ground.

Titan sent out his focus and felt something.

“Dungeon Boss Phase Dragon. HP is around One thousandth and twenty-two hundred.” Titan said.

“Shit. Fuck that noise Young Blood. We ain’t dealing with that shit.” Hank said.

“When the hell are the wizard and legendaries getting here OG?” Titan said.

“Soon" is the short answer. Not soon enough is the none bullshit answer.” Hank said picking up his dagger and the jewels from the ground.

“So what the fuck do we do in the mean time? Stand around with our dicks in our hands.” Titan said.

Hanks snorted loudly in laughter and then coughed before he pat Titan’s shoulder.

“We hold our position. We don’t need to beat the boss we just need to survive Young Blood.” He said.

Titan glanced at Hank and he could see his dagger glowing ash red glow.

Hank frowned at him. “What is it?”

  Titan focused on him.

Titan smiled. “You just hit legendary. OG.”

  Hank froze. “System Menu.”

Hank stared at his system menu for a few short moments and then he waved it away.

“That’s something good we can work with to keep us alive until the big boys come.” He said in a reserved voice.

“You just hit legendary. Level sixty. Your focus is over two hundred thousand. Primary skill one shot kill. Brother. You’re a bad ass.” Titan said.

A slow smile formed on Hank’s lips.

“You saw all that shit in my system menu?”

Titan grinned nodding but he was distracted as he heard and sensed the dungeon boss drawing closer.

“Sure, did. I think with your legendary upgrade we have a higher percentage of a survival rate.” Titan said.

Hank took his bow again. At the same time he motioned for Titan to bring out his Axiom Edge.

“Thanks for the compliment to my ego Young Blood. Back to your lessons.” Hank said.

“Lessons?” Titan said with raised eye brow.

“Damn straight. How do you weaken or distract a dungeon boss until help arrives?” Hank said with a grin.

“Alright. Teach me something.” Titan said, waving for Hank to continue.

Hank’s eyes scanned the skies. “Phase creatures jump in between space time as they move. So it’s not about finding where they are but where they’re likely to end up.” He said.

Titan frowned and started to shake his head but stopped. “Is that like calculating players next move in chess?”

Hank chuckled and he nodded. “Bingo. You are a natural at this Young Blood.”

Titan sighed gazing up at the stormy sky. “How long did it take you to get to this level? A thousand hours?” He asked.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.

Hank shook his head. “Over a thousand plus hours and training. Give me one second.”

Hank proceeded to raise his rifle and took aim. A second later something flashed into existence for a second.

Hank fired his rifle. The kick almost sent him to his back but Titan caught him and steadied his stance.

There was an explosion above them. Hank quickly grabbed up his rifle and took off.

Titan picked up the other rifle and followed after him.

Electrical purple energy came down where they had been standing.

Hank turned and aimed up at the sky and fired a black arrow.

The arrow flew up turning into ebony stream of energy that hit the chest of giant flaying invisible beast in the air.

“Ha. Got you bitch. Come on Yong Blood.” Hank said quickly and started running.

Titan followed close behind Hank moving fast.

  ( DIE MONKEYS! )

Time slowed down suddenly as Titan felt and heard the intent of the phase dragon.

Titan turned twisting on his toe and held up his Axiom Edge.

A flash of clear pink and white energy blasted into his weapon’s blade.

Titan went down to crunch as the kick of the killing energy trying to drive him back.

Titan gritted his teeth as his heart raced. His hand gripped the handle and his other held the blade.

  “FUCKING HELL!”

“I got it OG. Take that son of bitch out of the air.” Titan said in a snarl of anger and pain.

A series of ebony energy arrows fired off toward the dragon in the sky.

The phase dragon remained in the sky floating steadily.

“Come on you son of bitch. Is that all you got.” Titan yelled up at his enemy.

The phase dragon roared back at him in a rage.

Titan’s sword began to glow from a solid royal blue to purple violet glow.

  Phase energy parry.

Titan’s eyes lit with violet glowing energy before he parried the phase dragon’s energy attack and sent the energy wave to the side.

The dragon’s attack hit the ground behind Titan causing an electrical explosion.

Titan was thrown through the air a few feet.

Hank caught Titan as he came down.

Titan took in deep breaths as he got on to one knee and used his weapon to hold himself up.

The phase dragon was in the air being attacked by a group of five legendary dungeon crawlers.

Hundreds of golden flaming arrows hit the dragon in the sky.

Titan saw four archers firing off arrows at the creature.

The main commander of the group used a silver rifle to launch a twister of golden energy at the dungeon boss.

Titan smiled at the gun wizard commander. He remembered the man.

“That’s Ned Rogers. He’s pretty strong. That’s the power of a legendary ranker, huh?” Titan said.

“GET HIM THE FUCK OUT OF HERE. NOW!” Ned yelled.

Hank quickly grabbed up Titan, throwing him over his shoulder and he started running for his truck.

Titan laughed at how easily Hank carried him to the truck.

“Damn you're a strong one OG.” He said.

Hank said nothing just moved fast getting to his truck.

Hank opened the door and threw Titan inside and got inside.

Titan worked himself across the seat and buckled himself up as Hank started the truck.

Hank put the truck in reverse and started backing up quickly. He made a quick turn and then drove onto the main road.

  “Titan hold on.”

Titan frowned at his concerned tone and wondered why he was so worried.

Titan took a breath and closed his eyes for a few seconds as he felt tired.

  SLAP!

Titan gasped loudly as he felt a sharp sting on his chest. His eyes glowed as he glared at Hank.

“What the fuck OG. Why did you slap my chest.” He asked.

Hank snorted as he turned on to the main road and drove fast.

“You got to keep awake Young Blood. You were exposed to a lot of phase energy from that monster. I’m taking you to the redemption store. To get you checked out.” He said.

Titan looked at his weapon to see that it was still glowing. “It’s glowing.”

“I know. You just leveled up your class.”

Titan shook his head. “I upgraded my Axiom Edge.” He said.

  “What?” Hank said.

Titan nodded. “I upgraded my Axiom Edge to level two. I was able to parry the dungeon bosses attack.”

“What the fuck? You parred that shit on purpose?!” Hank said.

“Yeah. I felt it. I saw the message before I did it. Wait a minute something is happening. Wow.” Titan said and then he stared at his Axiom Edge glowed brightly and then disappeared.

Hank was staring out the street. “What happened?”

“My weapon just disappeared. My hands feel weird.” Titan said as he felt a tingling in his hands.

Titan felt like something had been imprinted or sprayed on them. He could almost see something on them now.

“You just lost your weapon?! Did the sword get destroyed?” Hank asked.

“No. At least I don't think so. Something feels weird. I can still feel my sword but it's like it's somewhere else.” Titan said.

Hank shook his head. “Hold on. Don’t worry about it. We’re going to get to the redemption shop and we’ll talk to a professional about this.”

Titan grimaced but he nodded his head. He stared down at his hands.

“There’s something else that happened before the dragon attacked us.”

Hank sighed. “What is it? Lay it on me.”

“I heard the phase dragon’s thoughts before the attack. He said, "Die monkeys!”

“Holy shit. Listen, don't tell anyone at the shop what you heard. Wait until you talk to Glenda on it. She’ll have an idea maybe on it.”

Titan shook his head. “How was the dragon able to talk or think?”

Hank frowned at the question. “Do you have an ability in the phase range?” He asked.

Titan started to answer in the negative but stopped. “My blink step is under a skill called phase displacement.” He said.

Hank nodded. “That’s it. It's a phase skill set. Similar power types can understand each other and feed each other’s power. Holy shit. It’s overload.” He said

  “Overload! What fuck is overload?!”

“Do you still feel charged up? Is your heart still racing?” Hank asked.

Titan frowned as he realized that his heart was still beating rapidly. “Yeah. What the fuck? I feel like a fucking race horse.”

Titan looked down at his hands to see them vibrating with energy. "Holy shit!"

“Fuck. We got a make a move. You'll need time for run down to race through your system. Fuck it. We’re hitting another dungeon." Hank said and started moving the truck through traffic in another direction.

"What?! Another dungeon raid?! Why? Wait. Fuck it. Let's do it. I need the gold. I got to make up for lost time not getting a bag of gold. Let's get it OG."

Hank laughed and slapped the dashboard. "That’s the spirit Young Blood."
