THE NIGHT-CYCLE
THE ROYAL HOUSE OF VOLTAIR
VOLTAIR CITY
PLANET VOLTAIRA
“He kuh-kuh-killed her,” Galactic Decider Xan said in a shaken tone of voice. “Bruh-Braako… He… He KILLED Auh-Auh-Anora.”
“LIES! Braako would never do such a thing! NEVER!” Rayven stated intensely whilst leaning up against a golden wall with her arms crossed over her chest.
“And would you know, Rayv?” Kai asked his ‘sister’ as he stood alongside the ‘shell-shocked’ looking Xan. “You were not there. You were not with us, down on the surface, when… when…”
“When what?” Rayven asked as she scrunched her brow. “WHEN WHAT, KAI??? When Braako supposedly took Anora’s life-cycle? What a load of raxx!”
Lowering his brow, Kai stated, “Tis not a ‘load of raxx’, Rayven. Tis the truth… RIGHT, XAN???”
Looking back at the ‘runt’ of the Galactic Deciders, Kai asked, “Xan, we WITNESSED Braako do it… Did we not? We saw Braako use his telekinesis to BREAK Anora’s neck.”
“Yuh-Yes,” Xan stammered. “We… We did.”
“Thracking YES we did,” Kai edged as he set his sights back upon the non-believing Rayven. “We all saw it, Rayv… ALL OF US WHO WERE DOWN ON RANNUK SAW BRAAKO MURDER ANORA IN COLD BLOOD. Sure, Apollox and Draex may not be here to speak their side of things, due to recovering in the Medi-Bay back at the Temple… Or Brother Tristen, who tragically lost his life-cycle at the hands of Magnus, but what we; Xan, Medo, and I, saw what truly happened.”
Still shaking her head, Rayven said, “I HIGHLY doubt that, Kai. What ACTUALLY happened was that you all THOUGHT Braako ‘broke’ Anora’s neck when in ACTUALITY it was the Oath-Breaker who was the one who extinguished her life-force.”
“Nuh-Nuh-No,” Xan stuttered. “‘Tuh-Twas Braako… Bruh-Braako, who did it, Ruh-Ruh-Rayven. Anora did nuh-nuh-not obey his orders s-s-so he… he…”
“Killed her,” Medo said in a cold voice whilst retaining a haunted look in her eyes.
Xan gave Medo a surprised look as Kai agreed, “Yes… YES, MEDS. He did! Braako killed Anora!”
Looking over at Rayven, who had a ‘visibly worried’ expression on her face now, Kai continued, “Not…”
“MAGNUS,” Medo uttered, cutting off Kai’s voice.
“Huh? What?” Kai huffed in confusion.
“‘Twas Magnus,” Medo said, even though she believed that Braako was the one who truly snapped Anora’s neck, but did not want to suffer the same fate as her. “He is the one who took ‘Sister Anora’s’ life-cycle. ‘Twas him.”
“YOU LIE!” Kai blasted at Medo. “MEDS, how could you speak such a falsity?!”
“Maybe because she was there and saw what TRULY happened, Brother,” Rayven sourly said, gaining a glare from Kai.
Shaking his head, Kai stated, “No… NO. Magnus did nothing… NOTHING!”
“He killed Tristen,” Medo stated, causing Kai to look over at her with widened eyes.
“Yes… That he did.” Rayven nodded as she stepped away from the wall that she had been leaning up against. “The Oath-Breaker KILLED Brother Tristen as well as injured Brother Draex and let us not forget about what he did to Brother Apollox.”
“He struck him so hard that he knocked him OFF-WORLD,” Medo stated, causing Kai to tighten his jaw nervously.
Treading towards Kai now, who stood before the still visibly shaken Xan, Rayven sneered, “So, you see, Brother Kai, there be NO WAY that Brother Braako could have killed Sister Anora. She was one of us. A Galactic Decider. As for Magnus, he is… or, well, ‘WAS’ one of us. Long before his DEATH, that is. Heh, heh, heh…”
If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
“I refuse… I REFUSE to believe that Magnus took Anora’s life-cycle,” Kai stated firmly. “I know what I saw. Xan and I KNOW what we saw.”
Kai then looked back at Xan and asked, “Tis correct… RIGHT, Brother?”
Xan remained scarcely silent all of a sudden, causing Kai to crook his brow in confusion as Rayven stated, “Best mind your words… AND TONGUE, Brother. You would not want to suffer the same GRUESOME fate as the Oath-Breaker now… WOULD YOU???”
Kai turned a glare on Rayven once more and locked eyes with her whilst Medo stood off to the side, looking downward in shame.
KA-KRAK!
SUDDENLY, kicking open the doors to the waiting room outside of the Emperor’s Private Chamber was none other than…
“Bruh-Braako,” Xan stuttered in fear after the Commanding-Leader of the Galactic Deciders had entered the waiting room.
Having cleaned and stitched himself up back at the Grand Galactic Deciding Temple after arriving on Voltaira some time ago, Braako had a proud smirk on his face as he looked across the room at his…
“SIBLINGS!!!” Braako blared cheerfully. “HOW BE YOU ALL?!”
No one responded.
“TIS A MOMENTOUS OCCASION… YES?” Braako asked. “GRANDLY MOMENTOUS! HA-HA!”
As Braako ‘strutted’ into the waiting room, Medo straightened herself up to ask, “Commanding-Leader, where have you…”
“BEEN???” Braako asked with a sneer. “I’ve been exploring. All across the Galactic Sector… I HAVE BEEN EXPLORING, thy brothers and sisters. And… EVEN BEYOND IT.”
“Buh-Buh-Beyond?” Kai stuttered in confusion as Braako turned a sneer to him and nodded.
“What of the Oath-Breaker?” Rayven stepped forward to ask with her brow lowered. “What became of him after we departed from Rannuk, Brother?”
Sneering still, Braako stated, “We shall not have to worry about the Oath-Breaker any longer… For he now resides in the Outer-World.”
“You… You killed him?” Medo said in shock.
“Yes… That I did,” Braako nodded. “I BROKE him… ALONG WITH RANNUK.”
“Wuh-What?” Xan stuttered in shock.
Grinning mischievously, Braako explained, “After you all left ‘off-world’ I stayed behind and BROKE Rannuk.”
“You ‘broke’ it?” Kai said in confusion. “But… But tis impossible. Only Magnus could ‘break’ worlds. Not…”
“Us???” Braako asked whilst turning to face Kai. “Well, Brother, I am GLADDENED to say that you have been sorely misinformed… WE ALL HAVE.”
Now speaking to the others, Braako continued, “Through accessing my emotions fully whilst NOT keeping my emotional level at its ‘supposed’ baseline, I let my telekinetic powers flow all the way through planet Rannuk right down to its very thracking core… AND RIPPED IT APART! PIECE BY THRACKING PIECE.”
“I cannot believe it,” Kai uttered.
“BELIEVE IT, BROTHER!” Braako snapped as his eyes glowed white for a brief moment. “I am ‘the Breaker of Worlds’ now… ME!!! For as long as we have all been alive, we thought that thracking Magnus was the only one of us who can break worlds ALONE, but tis not the case. Not anymore.”
Turning to the others again, Braako stated, “I believe that we ALL can access this ‘oh so coveted’ ability.”
“How?” Rayven asked. “How could we ever possibly ‘access’ it, Brother?”
“By disregarding keeping our emotional baselines ‘leveled’ and allowing ourselves to be Intune with our emotions… FULLY,” Braako answered. “Tis how I was able to break Rannuk. The anger… THE RAGE that I felt whilst combating with the Oath-Breaker gave me a kind of ‘power’ that I never felt before in all of my cycles of existence.”
Balling up his right fist, Braako continued whilst his eyes began to glow bright, stark white again, “A power so STRONG, so GOD-LIKE that I cannot wait until I can EXPERIENCE it once more!”
As Braako’s remaining siblings all stared at him in cautiousness/curiosity, the golden doors to Emperor Voltair’s Private Chamber suddenly opened up.
Creeping out of the middle crack in the doors was Barreth, who said, “GALACTIC DECIDERS… The Grand Emperor shall see you now.”
“GRAND,” Braako sneered before looking at the others again. “Come, my Siblings! Let us tell the GRACIOUS Emperor the GRAND news that we ALL have for him!”
Braako then eagerly ‘trotted’ into the Emperor’s Private Chamber with Rayven following him closely from behind.
Medo quickly did the same as Kai remained behind with Xan.
“Tuh-Tuh-Tis not guh-grand, Brother,” Xan stated to Kai. “Nuh-Not grand at auh-auh-all…”
