The Void

  In the void, something stirred.

A wisp of movement drifted across the surface of the eternal instant.

Fleeting and insubstantial, it passed with barely a ripple in the fabric of that original and impossible reality.

The Void, without form and without time, existed nowhere and everywhere. Eternal yet fleeting — a nothing so incomprehensible that it was beyond description.

But with that first imperceptible event, the nothing became something.

Time and space were now measurable, quantifiable dimensions. A single event could now have been said to have occurred, here and now.

But this new conception of space and time was fragile.

The stillness and emptiness of the Void lingered at the edge of a new reality. Time was in danger of fading away completely, as though it had never existed, and the property of here began to drift away as though nothing had ever occurred at all.

In the returning stillness, the Void was ready to reclaim its hold on reality and exist once more.

  Forever and never. Nothing.

But that small and delicate flower that had bloomed in the desert fluttered in an ephemeral breeze once more.

  In the void, something stirred.

And within that sigh of existence — the stillness of uncreation, the emptiness and absence of the void — came to an end.

  Born from incomprehensible nothing...

  It became everything.
