Out of sight, out of mind. Being a bodyguard/assassin/overall great being can be incredibly tedious and boring.
I was stuck guarding two places. The bridge and Anibeli's quarters. Now, while I am complaining, it isn't actually that bad. I can entertain myself in a few ways, including but not limited to: Sending things to Anibeli. What do I send? Many, many strange things. Pictures were so easy to mess with. Hell, we occasionally played "spot the target."
We send an image with a target, and then have to pick it out. I had to deliberately handicap myself, but I was fine with it.
Ani kept me up to date on our humble guests. We had left port with us, and our sister ship "Repentance", a sword class. We were pared for the return trip escort as us alone would be insufficient.

Nothing was going wrong, and likely nothing would. By the Phaeron, I would have expected my stint in the void to be fraught with danger, mayhap with me boarding 15 ships and getting a medal from some beautiful (by human standards) imperial princess or something. But nope, just escorting through space quietly whith the occasional bout of extreme battle.
Honestly, I don't know what I expected. Being a deathmark is largely the same. Long periods of waiting, followed by a few shots and the occasional firefight where your lord messed up deployment in their genius (I'm not saying that out loud. I like life.)
But that is besides the point. Time passes, slowly. I think. Dead gods, do I hate the immaterium. Such a shitty place. What day is it? Did we go forward or backwards in time? Oh no! its been 900 YEARS AND EVERYONE I KBOW IS DEAD!!!!!!
That shit is why I hate this place. Give me a good old rock, someone to shoot on it, and I'll call it a day.
We eventually emerge at our destination and all is, as predicted, well. We'll stay in port, or what passes here, for a while. Then, when the planet gathers their new sailors, we will depart, escorting some bloated transport that probably hasn't had maintenance since it's inception.
Mayhap I'll get to do something on the way back? Hm. I don't want to curse us so, but... I wouldn't mind the action.
