Volume 2 chapter 103

  **Volume 2: Upper World**

**Chapter 103: Somewhere Still** (Arc: Beginning of the End)

  July 4th, 12:38 a.m. – Shinjuku (Collapsed Plaza Ruins)

Jason pushed up from the rubble — glass shards falling off his shoulders like broken rain — dark blue-pink aura flickering unstable around him. His chest still burned from Jane’s last cut, but the wound was already closing, skin knitting slow and angry. He looked up — breathing hard — and saw her.

  Leo.

She walked toward him — no wings, just scars where they used to be — yellow eyes glowing faint in the moonlight. Same face, same lean body, same quiet steps. Jason’s heart jumped — for a second he wanted it to be her. The real her. The girl from five years ago who smiled sad on that rooftop and said “it’s okay” while falling. The one he let go because he couldn’t bear losing her again.

  But he knew.

He wanted the same Leo he loved.

  But he couldn’t.

  That Leo was long gone.

Jane blurred in — fist snapping forward — punched Jason square in the face. Jason flew backward — crashed through a row of glass windows in a nearby building — shards exploding outward, body tumbling through furniture and drywall. He hit the ground hard — rolled — came up coughing blood.

Jane stood in the hole he’d made — core scar pulsing brighter — green eyes amused.

Jason wiped his mouth — stood slow.

“I can’t kill Leo,” he said — voice low, almost to himself. “I want to believe… she’s still somewhere in there.”

Jane laughed — soft, mocking — and lunged again.

Jason ducked the punch — swept Jane’s legs out from under him with a quick low kick. Jane hit the ground — Jason dropped down fast — punched Jane’s chest — ribs cracking loud. Jane rolled back — got up quick — Jason punched again — uppercut to the chin — Jane’s head snapped back, blood spraying. Jason kept going — fist after fist — Jane blocked some, took others — then Jason kicked hard — Jane flew upward — crashed into a bush far across the plaza — branches snapping, leaves raining down.

Leo lunged from the side — blade flashing — aimed for Jason’s back.

Jason ducked — spun — grabbed her neck with one hand — lifted her off the ground. Leo struggled — yellow eyes wide — but Jason hesitated. His grip shook. He stared into her face — the same face from the rooftop, the same eyes that said “it’s okay” while falling.

The body felt right. The energy felt right.

But the soul… the eyes… something was off.

  He knew it wasn’t her.

But he wished she’d come back.

Jane clapped — once — sharp.

  **Laughing Void – Open.**

Black-red haze exploded outward — swallowing the plaza again — laughter echoing from nowhere. Invisible cuts started — slashing at Jason’s arms, legs, chest — blood misting the air.

Jason’s eyes widened — but he realized something.

If he moved fast enough — far enough — near Ray’s collapsing realm — he could break the connection.

He dropped Leo — dashed — 600 fps bursts — afterimages trailing — weaving through Dismantle slashes like threads in wind. Jane tried to track him — but Jason was too fast — too many fakes.

Meanwhile — inside Ray’s Realm of the Gods.

Ray stood over the trapped group — purple aura rolling like storm clouds — cutting over and over — invisible will blades slicing Hiro, Aoi, Taka, Lola — wounds opening, blood flowing — they couldn’t move, couldn’t fight back. Ray raised his hand — ready for the finishing blow.

Aoi kicked — small foot connecting with Ray’s face — Ray staggered — surprised. Aoi punched — fist glowing faint spatial energy — Ray blocked — but Aoi stabbed forward with a spatial crack — blade of nothing piercing Ray’s side. Ray threw Aoi into the blood river — water splashing.

Taka got the opening — swept Ray’s legs — Ray fell — Taka stabbed downward — sword through Ray’s back — Ray’s eyes widened — purple aura flickering.

Sky ran — jumped high — kicked Ray hard in the chest — Ray flew back — crashed into a bridge of bone — cracking it in half.

Aoi opened another portal — small, flickering — into the invisible box where Max was sealed.

Max stumbled out — gasping — shadows weak but alive.

Ray got up — mad now — eyes glowing violent purple.

  He clapped both hands.

**Realm of the Gods** intensified — land multiplying, water turning to blood oceans, skies splitting wider with lightning.

But outside — Jason kept moving — fast — near the realm’s edge — he punched the wall — cracks spreading — the realm shuddered.

Back inside — Ray looked up — felt it.

The chapter ended with Jason standing outside — breathing hard — dark blue-pink aura steady — looking at the collapsing realm.

  “I won’t lose.”
