Chapter 1: "Under the Comet"

Two hundred and thirty years ago, in Blothir, an evil witch named Yudith made a pact with the devil. Her power was so great that not even the angels dared to confront her. But everything changed when she tortured her own son. After escaping, he revealed her true identity and unleashed the fury of the mages of Azkhal.

They say Yudith fled when she heard they were coming for her, and her tracks vanished with the wind. Some say she now lies in the depths of hell, but no one truly knows the truth. It is a story from 230 years ago.

“What would I know?” a farmer from the village once said with a laugh, shrugging his shoulders.

In Fisherin, a town near the sea, rich in food and filled with stingy but lively people, lived Esiher — or Ezhi, as his friends called him. He lived comfortably near the mountains of the dwarves, with whom the town traded gold and food. The relationship with the dwarves was tense, but profitable.

Like every week, Esiher ran to see the dwarven fair when suddenly he saw a flash in the sky. A comet covered the sun for a few seconds. When he arrived, he heard dwarves and humans talking about what had happened.

“The comet is heading toward the cursed Lake of Sin Luz,” someone said with a trembling voice.

Confused and slightly afraid, Esiher soon ran into Alberth, his best friend.

“Did you see that?” Alberth asked.

  Esiher nodded.

“They say it's a bad omen,” Alberth added quietly.

  Esiher laughed.

“Don’t believe those things. People just exaggerate.”

The people of the town began to murmur. Some hurried to store their belongings, while others prepared for the worst.

Esiher and Alberth looked at each other.

  What would happen now?

Night began to fall over Fisherin, and the comet continued its path toward the cursed lake.
