Chapter Two
After some hours, they had found a history book in their house and had looked through the book. Only a single place had been settled at the time and that was in South America.
“We’re screwed!”
“Or we could make friends with the locals.”
“That’s impossible.”
“How so?”
One of the girls had wandered off. Nobody noticed such a thing, but she was quickly found by a beast and eaten. When her body was found later, nobody really cared. She was annoying anyway. When the leaders were talking about what to do, they were scared.
“There are the obvious language barrier and the fact that we have diseases that could wipe them out in a month.”
What would come out of the people was strange. See, ten minutes after the meeting concluded, they had found that the girl had passed. Horror, pure horror came over them as the reality of their situation settled in. They knew that the people here were just as afraid of them and vice versa.
Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.
“This looks like it wasn’t human.”
“How reassuring!”
Rylea, a ginger girl, and the old man were outside. The old man had a strange look on his face like he had some kind of recognition but for obvious reasons he wasn’t.
“I’ve been here before.”
“What are you talking about?”
A crooked smile came to his face before he let out a small laugh. Rylea knew he was onto something but there was a bad moment for him to point out.
“Have you ever looked into botany?”
“Not really. My mom has a garden.”
“Well, Post Oaks are trees that grow here, and they can live for centuries. This forest is where I grew up. My parents wouldn’t care about me, but this is where I grew up.”
The realization hit them like a truck and in an instant, they found themselves running back to the houses.
“How? How could that happen? The odds are so stacked against us for this?”
“Kid, you’ll be surprised at the things that have happened to me. This is nothing.”
The two kids didn’t even bother asking about the man’s past. If he went down, then they would be left to their own devices and that wouldn’t be a good situation for anyone. Their best bets were to wait until some people from Europe had landed and then they could get something close to normalcy. Maybe one day, even head back to their world of the modern day.
“Where did everyone go?”
“No clue. Hello!”
“They must have left.”
When the three returned to their homes, they found that there was a note on one of their tables. It was encrypted.
