  Creeds (Lore)

Creeds are a new type of ceremony popularised within the last 4 years after the Legions’ return and the proliferation of Memorium as a powerful personal energy source, in which aspiring Adventurers officially christen themselves as members of one of the Twelve Orders of the ancient Knights Templar of Calybcor.

This was a concept first popularised by graduates and students of Nindo, the oldest known educational establishment on Manusyara, who have upheld the tradition of swearing allegiance to the Twelve Orders for millenia.

To perform a Creed, an Adventurer must kneel at an Altar of Sol while placing a piece of refined Memorium in the statue’s hands, before swearing an oath that acts as the summation of their way of life, their history, and ambitions, imprinting on the Memorium and transforming it into an active Oath, which can be used as a source of power in battle.

Within the context of the game’s lore and flavour, when the player spends Memorium on a Creed, they are signing or renewing an employment contract with an Adventurer, before taking them to a temple and renewing their Oath to Sol.

The exact canonicity of this process is dubious, however, and depends on Seeker to Seeker. Some concepts, such as Duplicate Oaths, can be considered to be almost outright non-canon in nature, existing solely for gameplay purposes.

Some Seekers, such as those of the Remembrance Series, could not have actually sworn Oaths and as such are fully non-canon, while others may have simply sworn or renewed theirs separate to their employment by the player, so their Creed remains non-canon, while their employment is still canon.

  Memorium

Memorium is the primary premium currency in Seekers of Lost Sin.

It can primarily be used to obtain Oaths from Creeds, which will also unlock their respective Seeker when obtained for the first time.

It is also very rarely used for incredibly high-end crafting of Unique Raid Equipments and Oaths that is non-repeatable.

For miscellaneous uses that don't directly impact gameplay, it can also be used for:

  • Replenishing Stamina

  •
  • Expanding Inventory Space

  •
  • Buying certain Outfits

  •
  • Buying Furniture and Decorations for your Office

  Obtaining Memorium

  Memorium can be obtained by…

  Memorium (Lore)

Memorium is an artificial crystal first refined and discovered by Elazza, whose research into the matter earned him the rank of Magister Superintendent, which is only second in command to the Director and Vice-Director of the Citadel of Magi themselves.

It is remarkable for its strange quality of being able to imprint memories and thoughts within its lattices, crystallizing and immortalising them.

While many of its esoteric qualities are still yet to be explored, with hundreds of papers being written and thousands of experiments being conducted per year, it has already become one of the most powerful arcane fonts.

People quickly discovered one of the simplest and most efficient ways to draw out power from Memorium was to codify your thoughts and memories in an objective set of terms, binding them in a rigorous set of laws and conditions through an oath or contract.

This led to the popularization of Adventurers once again swearing Oaths to the Twelve Orders, storing them inside of the refined Memorium. In the present day, because of the proliferation of Memorium, it is customary for Adventurers to also list their aligned Order on their Registrations, even if they are not formally a part of the Knights Templar, and do not fight against the Seven Legions.

When properly stored, these Oaths can then be invoked by the holder to unleash power equal to the intensity and importance of the memory, multiplied by the set of restrictions and limiting way of life the Oath placed them under.

  History

Memorium was first refined by Elazza four years before the Prologue as a part of his grand Seven Heavens Project, particularly as an ultimate culmination into what he labelled as his ‘Fourth Heaven, Zebul’.

The Seven Heavens Project itself is said to have been started over twenty years before the Prologue, but not much else is known about it.

While its history is unclear as of the moment of writing, vox de ultra Games have stated that the character of Elazza and his research, along with the inner workings of the upper echelons of the Citadel of Magi, will be the central focus of the upcoming 3rd Anniversary Event.

  Remembrance (Series)

Remembrance Seekers are Seekers who do not reflect their current status within the game’s world and story, either being past versions of already-existing characters, or characters who are currently deceased, only existing in flashbacks or memories of other characters.

They are the only Seekers whose presence gameplay-wise is entirely non-canonical. While their dialogue can be treated as true to their character, any interactions they have with the cast are strictly fictional and hypothetical.

The game itself treats their circumstances with vagueness, not stating whether they should be treated as a living, breathing entity from an alternate reality or a simulacrum of the person projected by Memorium. Their Tea Time conversations and other miscellaneous lines of dialogue often dance around the matter of how exactly they are in the present and any potential effects or implications on the timeline.

Other characters will often treat them in an inconsistent manner, with reactions ranging from acting as if their presence is normal, to being melancholic, knowing that the person died a long time ago.

  Difficulties

Within Seeker of Lost Sin’s endgame, after Tier 1 Labyrinths are unlocked, giving access to Equipment LVL 85+, content stops being rated numerically by approximate player power, and is instead classified categorically based on expected gameplay patterns, party restrictions, rewards, and other criteria.

[You may click any of the difficulties to see a list of all available content in the difficulty]

  Lunatic

The Lunatic difficulty is exclusive to Raids, specifically referring to the apex tier of Raids, designed for ten players to participate in at once. It is the final difficulty to offer new drops and unlocks, and is the ultimate pinnacle in a player’s progression.

  Lunatic+

The Lunatic+ difficulty is an enhanced version of Lunatic, increasing the stats of enemies and adding new, complex mechanics and attack patterns, placing an emphasis on extreme coordination and planning. It is explicitly not designed to be clearable by random groups of players, and is balanced around Guilds being able to prepare and communicate in real-time, with access to optimal Equipment, Seekers and parties. Because of the extreme increase in difficulty, it does not provide unique rewards, only an increased amount of them.

Famously, Lunatic+ Raids are the completion goals of the Race to World First events, in which top Guilds are livestreamed as they race to be the first to clear a Raid as soon as it releases, typically taking several days to a week to do so.

  Mythic

The Mythic difficulty is restricted to multiplayer content. When referring to Raids, the Mythic difficulty refers to six-player battles. Most Lunatic Raids – aside from those considered to be ‘final bosses’ of a story arc – have a lesser Mythic variant, containing many of the same core drops and materials but lacking the chance to drop the vaunted Tier 0 Uniques, among a small pool of other incredible prized, rare items.

  Mythic+

The Mythic+ difficulty is an enhanced version of Mythic, and is considered by many to be the ‘endgame’ of Seekers of Lost Sin, with Lunatic existing mainly as aspirational content only done a couple of times a month, and only needs a finite amount of completions to attain the rewards of, where as Mythic+ content comprises the bulk of daily gameplay.

  Cataclysm

Cataclysm and Cataclysm+ are the highest tier of singleplayer content. As opposed to Archfiend, which is only meant to be numerically challenging, not mechanically challenging – as a puzzle of optimisation rather than skill or knowledge – Cataclysm+ content is designed to be explicitly challenging and testing, with the lesser Cataclysm difficulty intended to be more of a training ground and pity prize compared its greater variant, which is multiple times better in loot and rewards.

  Tea Time

Tea Time is a gameplay feature that can be accessed from the Office. Within it, the player helps Luna test recipes to recreate lost tea blends, sharing it with other Seekers in the Office to deepen their bonds.

The player may invite up to three unique Seekers a day. Upon selecting a Seeker, the player – acting as Luna – chooses a variety of ingredients to mix into a drink to serve, each of which draws a different reaction from every Seeker.

The chosen character will gain a variable amount of Bond EXP depending on how much they enjoyed the drink.

Afterwards, the player will have a chance to engage in a conversation with the Seeker about their lives and their pasts. Currently, each conversation has at least one of three methods of unlocking:

  • Reach a certain Bond LVL

  •
  • Pass a specific threshold of Bond EXP attained from a single drink

  •
  • Unlocks automatically after a previous, related conversation.

  •
