With our new gathered information Sayori and I headed back into the inn since it was getting late. We decided to leave the exploring for tomorrow. Besides I think we can have a bit of a break tomorrow maybe explore around the market or just check out the places nearby.
With that decided we got a good rest and woke up early in the morning the next day. We got fresh and had breakfast.
“Let’s explore around the village today, a rest day can’t possibly hurt.” Sayori said to me with sparkles in her eye.
“Well I suppose we can have some fun today.”
“Oh! Have you decided how much longer we are going to stay here? Personally I don't really think we should stay here that long if we want to reach the witch soon enough.”
“Pacific, I guess you are right but there isn’t much harm in staying here for a few days is there?” Sayori replied to me.
“Well I guess you are right, let's have fun today for now and we can decide those things later.”
With that we explored the village. There were many things we had never seen before like different types of foods, acts, music, there were even fun rides. All were things we really experienced for the first time.
Both Sayori and I were really happy, we tried many things and had lots and lots of fun. Though the rides made us kinda dizzy maybe because it was our first time riding on them.
Life felt so good at that moment. It was as if we had completely forgotten about our goal. Not in a bad way though, in a good way. All the stress we had had just vanished at that moment.
After a long day of exploring and having fun we decided to head back to the inn. Along the way we heard something that caught our ear. Some people were discussing about a dangerous ruins close to the village.
We both got curious and decided to ask about it. Well Sayori did the asking because I don’t really know how to talk to people properly except for Sayori.
We got a little information about the ruins and the danger that lurks in it.
Apparently there was something in the ruins which was very dangerous and has been causing a lot of trouble in the village. Though it used to be inactive recently it has been more and more active and that the monsters in the ruins have been hurting those villagers.
“Doesn’t this sound exciting, Pacific.”
“Yea, it does though it is probably very dangerous as well.”
“Maybe but it’s our first step to make it big in this world, you know.”
“Well, I do like myself a little challenge so, wanna explore it tomorrow then Sayori?”
“Mhm I do.”
“Well then tomorrow it is, let's go and get a good rest for now.”
“Yea we should.” Sayori said in return.
We then returned to the inn and slept, honestly I couldn’t sleep cause I was excited for tomorrow. I don't know if Sayori was able to sleep but I doubt she did because the next day we woke up she had dark circles around her face, well so did I.
We had a quick breakfast with coffee of course. Then we headed off to the ruins
It wasn’t a long walk though. It was pretty close to us.
As we arrived in front of the ruins I could feel a dark and malicious aura from inside of it.
“Well what are we waiting for? Let's go inside.” Before I could even respond, Sayori just dragged me towards the ruins.
Once we were inside the ruins, she finally let my hand go.
As expected it had weeds, mosses and ferns growing all around it, you could tell it was a really old ruin.
“Well this ruin is clearly what you would expect in a ruin obviously.”
“Yea it just seems like one of those normal ruins which we used to explore all the time in the forest.” Sayori stepped forward trying to see anything out of place.
“Well let’s just go and explore a bit more first,” As I said that I felt a chill run down my spine. The hair on my nape had stood up. It was a really uncomfortable feeling.
Sayori agreed with me and we both kept going deeper exploring the ruins.
CLICK!
The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.
We had accidentally stepped on a pressure plate.
WHOOMPH!
A swinging boulder came swinging down with high speed.
THUD.
I had pushed Sayori away but I still got hit.
CRASH!
I had crashed into the wall and I could see Sayori running up to me, she had a panicked look in her eyes and I could genuinely see her distress.
“P-Pacific…Are you okay? Can you walk? I am so sorry. It was all my fault.” Sayori was tearing up.
“Y-yea I am fine don’t worry.” As I said that I thought back to what just had happened a second ago.
When the boulder was crashing down and it was about to hit me, the device had activated just for a moment. A flash of light had covered my whole body for a split second and protected me.
The moment it had covered me all of my bones felt much more stronger and I could tell overwhelming power had flowed into me but disappeared in an instant.
I was really grateful that the device had protected me but also curious how it had activated and if I could control it at will, I would be much closer to my goal.
I slowly stood up. Sayori grabbed on to me helping me.
“See? I am all fine.”
“Y-yea but still.” Sayori wiped off the tears on her face as she saw I was fine.
“Let’s be more careful and keep moving okay?” I looked around as I said that.
“Yea, let's be more careful.”
After we realized there were traps we moved more carefully. Luckily we were kind of experienced because we had explored many ruins in the forest before. It’s just that, that first trap caught us off guard.
Neither of us were expecting traps but I guess we just let our guards down and we now know we have to be more careful.
With our new found discovery, we carefully explored the ruins dodging every trap and trying not to trigger them.
As we went deeper we entered a spacious room. It was much darker than normal but I still could see something in the corner of my eye.
“Sayori.. I see something, be careful.” I took on a defensive stance
Sayori nodded slightly as we slowly approached it.
THOOM!
It suddenly launched at us, I could feel the power of the jump. It was powerful enough to send vibrations all around my body.
Sayori and I barely managed to dodge it but we could tell the difference of the power level between us.
Even though it was strong, I could tell it wasn’t the presence I felt at the entrance of the ruins. It was probably some weaker monster.
“Pacific, I think I know how we can defeat it.” Sayori gestured to me to follow her.
“Lead the way Sayori!”
Sayori and I kept on dodging the monster and I kept following Sayori.
“Pacific, on the count of 3, jump.”
I nodded and kept following her lead. The monster was very close to us and I could tell it was preparing to lunge.
“3”
“2”
“1”
The monster lunged at us.
“JUMP NOW!” Sayori said as she jumped towards the side.
I followed her lead jumping as well.
The monster lunged right into the trap.
WHOOSH!
The boulder came crashing down.
CRACK!
I could hear the bones of the monster cracking as the boulder crashed into him.
“We somehow survived that.” Sayori breathed heavily.
“Yea, we somehow did.”
“Do you think we should keep going? That one was too hard to defeat.” Sayori looked at the dead monster
“I didn’t think we would be overwhelmed by just one. I don’t think we can do it.” I say as I look at my device.
If only the device could activate again somehow then probably we could go in deeper.
“I guess we should get out.” Sayori said.
Just when we were about to turn around we saw the way to the top was being blocked by those same monsters.
They suddenly came running at us.
I grabbed Sayori’s hand and ran deeper because that was the only place we could even go now.
Because of the large amount of monsters, I could hear many traps being activated and I could tell they were being slowly killed but the numbers were too much to even make a big difference so I knew we couldn’t just wait till they were all killed by just the traps.
As we went deeper and deeper and entered a room suddenly the monsters all backed off like they were all scared. They ran back off. Sayori and I were very confused. There appeared to be nothing in the room so why would they even be scared?
As we looked around suddenly I felt the same aura I felt at the entrance but it was much closer.
It felt really cold. It was tremendous enough to make me freeze up for a second. My mind stopped working for a second but immediately it filled up with tons of questions on what was happening in this room. All of my hair had stood up.
Sayori was the same, I could tell she was also frozen and had tons of questions running through her mind.
We slowly made an effort to run out of the room.
K-THOOM!
A gust of air got pushed toward us.
The door had suddenly closed on us. If it was a normal door we could have maybe broken out of it but it wasn’t even qualified to be called a simple door. It was like a huge lump of metal too tough.
Sayori clenched on to me like a lifeline. I could tell she was really scared.
“P-Pacific, w-what’s going to happen to us…” Sayori trembled
“D-don’t worry, I-I am here.”
Suddenly we could hear that something was rumbling around us.
As we looked we realized it was something far more sinister than what we thought was a normal monster was a large golem. It wasn’t just a large golem, I could feel its cold aura. I felt numb just after I saw it. My whole body went cold.
I tried to shake off the feeling because I needed to protect Sayori.
WHOOPH!
The golem suddenly swung its large sword at me.
My whole body went numb, for a moment I couldn’t feel anything but the pain came crashing in. I could tell some of my bones were broken. My ears were ringing.
I could hear a faint voice… It was Sayori, she was calling out to me.
I couldn’t die here.
I have to protect her…
Sayori needs me…
I can’t let her die here yet…
Everything went cold. I thought that maybe I was already dead.
“Hmm.. So this is your resolve. May you be able to create the future you want.”
Suddenly I could feel something inside of me. It was like something deep in me awakened. My cold body warmed up again. Even though many of my bones were broken. It felt like I could still fight.
But this time, I knew that it wasn’t the device from which I could feel the power from. It was from within me.
“I MUST PROTECT HIM, PROTECT PACIFIC, PROTECT HIM, PROTECT HIM I NEED TO PROTECT PACIFIC.” Sayori let out a devastating scream.
I had opened up my eyes and I could feel the whole ground trembling. It wasn’t from the monster. It was actually from Sayori.
VUH-SHHHHH
As I looked at her, Sayori was floating and the air around was reacting to her, flowing in perfect sync.
I was shocked but I knew, I couldn’t let her fight it all alone. I needed to do something. I had to do something. I just can’t stay weak.
My mind got flooded with thoughts of creating something. Creating a future where colors would exist. Creating something, something, something.
Suddenly a ton of swords got formed mid air but I knew those swords weren’t enough to defeat the golem.
HUMMMMMM-!
Suddenly the device started glowing as if it was trying to tell me something. I now knew what I had to do now
