'... The hell...?'
Song Mia was slightly startled by her own voice.
'Oh, so I can speak. Kind of. Inside my head. Since I can't feel my mouth.'
As a matter of fact, Mia couldn't feel anything. Not the blinking of her eyes, the rise and fall of her chest as she breathes, nor the feeling of standing on the floor under her feet. Or at least, where her feet should be. The only thing she could do was move around her line of sight. But what was worse, there was no sound. As if she was in a constant state of vacuum.
'This is tripping me out.'
She grinned playfully. Well, it's more like, she imagined the corner of her mouth turning up into a grin.
'I like it. The suspense is killing me though. Not that I can die twice since I'm already dead. I think. Or can I...?'
Before her mind spiraled into dangerous territory, she snapped herself back to what's in front of her.
'Not sure what most of these technical jargon means, but I can make a guess. Anyway, more information is always better. Let's read it.'

The floating translucent box disappeared, then a long blue screen appeared in its place. Mia froze as she went over the list of words displayed on the screen. A chill ran down her absent spine.
[soul#**********]

Date of death: 11.10.2033 (05.07.2008)
'How... accurate.'
Dreadful nightmares were coming back to haunt her. The snickering voices sounded as if they were right behind her, taunting her very existence. Nonetheless, as she always did, Mia nonchalantly ignored it.

'Such a nuisance. Leave me alone.'
She quickly passed by the details she was already aware of, then stopped at a particular word, partly flustered.
Soul rank: Martyr (first cycle)
Mia bursted into laughter, amused at the word she just read. Suppressing herself from commenting on it, she continued reading.
Spirit hue: #6082B6
Karma scale: Balanced

'... I have no idea what any of this means. What are these codes I can't make sense of?'
Then, the screen vanished and Mia was left staring at the white void of nothingness.
Suddenly, two large squares of white space moved, opened up like large doors to reveal a beautiful, lush forest garden. Despite not having a physical body, Mia felt her heart beating quickly and all kinds of emotions welled up at the sight of the rich landscape before her.
'W-Why do I feel like crying?'
Mia doesn't cry. She would swipe a tear from laughing too hard, but she was not a sad crier. She had perfect memory that stemmed all the way from when she was a year old, so as far she can remember, she had been so quiet as a baby that it made her mother worried, and somewhat creeped out. Mostly because Mia would just stare at her mother dead in the eyes... intentionally. She loved the wary look her mother gave her, which she found stupidly entertaining. Also, she wanted to see how her mother would treat a weird, creepy, somewhat sinister child. Will she still care for this strange girl? Will she still love me?
Mia turned her gaze away. She wanted nothing more than to run far from this place, the very source that choked her up. Unfortunately, she's forever stuck, her line of sight was locked in only one position, forward. She was losing every shred of control over her emotions, and it terrified her. She felt elated, melancholy, longing, but mostly... relief and gratitude.
While she was overwhelmed by a wave of emotions she couldn't fathom, the system popped up again, halting her inner turmoil. This time, it's in bright gold. Light shined, highlighting around it. Mia was filled with something sacred and awe as her sight landed on the screen.
System: [Heaven] has extended an invitation to [soul#**********].
System: Please choose how to proceed.
'So, that's heaven...? Is that the reason I feel so moved... Wait. '
Mia looked at the two options before her, puzzled and bewildered.
[Accept] [Decline]
'Huh?! Is this system malfunctioning? Who the heck would ever refuse?! That makes no sense! Why is there even an option for that-'
She paused when a thought struck her.
'First cycle... Life cycle... Could there be a second or third...?'
Mia pondered as she recalled to what was written previously.
'Ha... Haha... I must really be crazy.'
She glanced at the peaceful and serene picture in front of her. Then chuckled, a sly yet child like fit of giggles.
System: [soul#**********] has declined the invitation.
Mia watched as the entrance to Heaven gradually disappeared behind the white empty wall.
'Yeah, this is exactly why I will always die before reaching thirty.'
She sighed, disappointed at her own reckless curiosity.
The public saw her as an exalted esper, a hero for humankind. While it's true that she was one of the most skilled at using her powers and the biggest contributer to humanity with the highest amount of cleared dungeons, the news had completely overblowned her achievements. Furthermore, the public interpreted her interviews as they pleased, resulting in her holy, saint like image. Of course, to her dismay. However, all of her subordinates knew better. In fact, anyone who had fought with her at least once and initially fell for her public image, became throroughly disillusioned right after. Truth was, Song Mia can easily be described in two words.
Crazy. Witch.
Crazy, because she would plunged head first into battle with a one-track mind. Kill or be killed. Conclusion, a lot of killing shall happen.
Witch, because regardless of how maddeningly bizzare her actions were, it would always benefit her or the people around her in the end. Hence, this unique trait of hers had brought about peace and safety for humanity.
The tale of Esper Mia's valiant sacrifice, sparing the rest of her battle companions by eliminating the Demon King with her own mighty hands, resounded throughout the whole world. Her name lived in their sorrowful hearts, as they mourned for the superhero, humankind felt they didn't deserve.
Meanwhile, the main character herself had no idea, and she had just committed another insane, self-sabotaging life choice, again. Though this time, it may or may not drop her straight into hell as a dire consequence.
'Oh, well. What's done is done. No going back now.'
Mia shrugged her non-existent shoulders and braced for what might came next as she eagerly stared at the words displayed on the floating translucent screen.
