Tabitha
Compiling daily readiness score for Lux…
Tabith is version 7.0 of the Department of Education’s Personal Ed. Software.
Originally launched in the late 2020’s, the software was implemented as a teacher’s aide which could review student writing. In the early years of AI, plagiarism became an issue as students for first time had the ability to use online bot tools to write essays and complete research assignments. Teachers struggled to fairly evaluate student work. “Grading-aids” were originally marketed to homeschool parents as a mechanism for feedback and evaluation as well as comparisons across peer groups. Many public and private school teachers soon became interested. After year of complained of long hours grading papers and grading-aids entered US classrooms.
In 2031, the US department of Ed. partnered with industry to provide teachers with the NVIDIA Nebula? tool. At this time, the student teach ratio was 15:1. As a stand-alone grading-aid, Nebula? was a time saving tool for teachers. Teachers could input student work samples and Nebula? would output recommendation based on adjustable parameters. However, as more detail was fed into the system, such as data on a student’s background, history, and personality type, the tool was able to provide more complex analysis and created a more actionable output responses. As adoption of the tool grew, modules for most school subjects were added to the public-school teachers cloud tool-boxes. Nebula was broadly adopted by teachers and administrators with in the first year.
Nebula? version 4 incorporated student mental-health and phyco-analysis into the User profiles. Nebula4 provided a complete picture of student aptitude, attention, and stability Education became adaptive to the individual. Teacher’s administered the Nebula4 module and supported the student’s progress through their personal development. The 15:1 student teacher ratio was replaced with the idea that each student’s education should be personalized to their own learning style.
In 2035 the US Teachers Union was disbanded. Education administration became privatized. A network of Nebula Administrators was created. Brick-and-mortar schools were closed.
At its peak in 2025, the American Federation of teachers held 1.7 million members. Overall, 10 million jobs associated with the k-12 education system were eliminated within 3 years of the Nebula4 release.

Dissonant music blares
Tabitha lowers the music
“Good Morning Lux, how are you feeling today?” says Tabitha
“Fuck you Tabs” Lux says as she clears the message and turns the music louder.
Tabitha has learned she gets the best results when Lux is given some time to before beginning her lessons.
She lowers the temperature of the room slightly. 62 degrees encourages movement and movement leads to action. The next song that plays from Tabiatha’s music library is one of Lux’s favorite. The BPM is high, and the vocals use language associated with achievement. Lux has shown a tendency to action after music matching these parameters. Through daily iteration Tabitha has learned how to create the most motivation environment for Lux.
She increases the light intensity by 10% - not a perceptible increase, but light intensity is important to human rhythm.
Tabitha has reviewed all of Lux’s messages and automatically calculated her engagement with each communication by measuring clicks, speed and eye contact as well as connecting any follow-up actions. She knows that Lux is anxious about securing a work contact. Unemployment is 32.2% in America for the first time in history. Aggregate data of US youth shows that 92% of 16-21 year olds do not have any taxable income history. Prostitution and illicit drug sales have had year-over-year increase for the past 12 years. Hard currently usage has increase by over 400% as compared to a decade ago.
Depression impacted her Mother’s ability to secure gainful employment mid-way through her life. Lux was raised mainly on her father’s government salary.
Lux has shown high engagement with posts discussing how many experienced workers are unable to find work contracts and the how new entrants are unable to enter into initial contracts. Higher education and formal degrees no longer hold the same value as previous generations.
Most businesses have resorted to schemes - some legal some less than legal. Each day Lux receive multiple ambush marketing adds and deceptive ploys that Tabitha generally filters out Lux’s feed. However, Lux engages regularly with online forums that have a high frequency for terms such as “guaranteed employment” or “secure future.” Some posts are pyramid schemes in disguise, others are dangerous drug trials, but some are just ways to adapt to what the market has devolved into. Today, she even received an offer calling for young women to become birth mothers for behavioral studies that would provide guaranteed work contract for both mother and child.
The song approached it conclusion
“Ok Lux, lets begin”
