Chapter 716

  Chapter 716

Anton, the elder of the Brownie folks, and two of his delegation members, who looked like the old Brownie’s bodyguards, gathered in Terun’s living room.

“How can I help you, sir?” Anton asked the elder.

“Terun may have informed you that some of our folks brought a few forest elves for trade. There were six of them, and to strengthen the relationship between us and the elves, we asked that you lend us your window to another dimension so we can let the forest folks see the wonderful story that you’ve shown us,” The brownie elder said, talking about the Avatar films.

Anton had a thought that the Avatar franchise might become a religion to them if he promoted it. The brownies truly liked the films that they wanted to share them with their trade neighbors. He knew for a fact that the Brownies did not need to present gifts to the elven folks, especially intangible ones like the films. Their relationship with the elves had been ongoing for millennia, according to Terun. The fact was, Anton truly believed that the Brownies just wanted to share something they found wonderful with their friends, and he could understand that. In all honesty, that was what Anton had been doing ever since he transmigrated to this world.

Anton agreed to lend the movies to the brownies. He could have given copies of the films by giving them mini globes of browser sharing, but he offered to personally share the film with the forest elves so they could watch it. He just wanted to check out the vaunted forest elves while they watch the movies. He wanted to see what their reactions would be. He imagined that there was a chance that it would also be extreme, like the brownies, since the forest elves could probably relate to the blue citizens of Pandora, since both species were children of nature.

Since it was already late at night, the Brownies planned to show the films to the elves the next day. What surprised Anton was that the brownies planned to share the three Avatar films as a marathon with short breaks in between, simply because Anton planned to leave the village the day after tomorrow. They were not aware that Anton could simply leave the mini globes of browser sharing with them, but he did not enlighten the brownies and let them believe that, without him, the movies would not be available to be seen anymore.

He did not know how the forest elves would react if they learn that the Brownies planned to capture them for the whole day to watch the three Avatar films. Anton planned to record the forest elves with his globe of browser sharing while they were watching the films. He planned to share the moment with his family in Ormunda.

Anton knew for a fact that regardless of species or race, everyone liked the movies since the movie goers in their cinema consisted of different races like elves, dwarves, halflings, and different varieties of beast folks. According to Romina, there were even some native undead creatures. Apparently, it was illegal to attack them even though they were currently enemies with the Undead Coalition, simply because the undead in Ormunda, especially the long-time citizens, were of different factions from the invaders.

At first, Anton thought that he would feel irrational hatred towards any undead, but he was surprised at himself for not caring about them. More than likely, with the power of the wizards of Ormunda, they would have the means to detect any spies that worked with the Undead Coalition.

This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.

Because of what happened in Zalnothel and Mendoza, Anton had a very low opinion of the Wizards' Councils that govern kingdoms, but that changed when he saw the power of the government that rules New Drennor and Ormunda. He had since realized that it was simply because Zalnothel and Mendoza were just tiny cities or kingdoms. For behemoths like New Drennor or Ormunda, they did not care about some measly monsters like the Undead Coalition. That was also the reason why Anton had mellowed down a lot from being an emo end-of-times aficionado. At least, Anton felt that he now had the time to grow in power. That was the reason for the travel that he was doing.

After the Brownie elder and his cohorts left, Anton went to his room and continued leveling up his Diablo characters until he was tired enough to sleep.

Early the next day, after breakfast, Anton went to the village hall to show the Avatar films to the forest elves and some of the Brownie folks who had not seen the film. The Brownie elder told him that the movie watching would start at eight in the morning, then an hour rest during lunch so everyone could eat, then they would proceed to watch the second film, then another hour break, then the last film in the franchise.

Anton should not have been surprised when he saw that the village hall was full to the brim. Apparently, the Brownies wanted to watch the movies again and did not care if they had just seen the films the day before. The forest elves were sitting at the front, but even though they had stoic expressions, he could detect some curiosity from them.

The forest elves were as beautiful as any of the elves that he had seen in the city. They were tall, slim, and graceful. The main difference was the color of their clothing and hair. The forest elves' clothing and hair mimic the color of the forest in different seasons, except for winter, since winter colors were gray and white, and the forest elves had brown, green, red, orange, and all sorts of plant colors in their hair and clothing. Their skin was wheat-colored, very different from the pale skin of the city elves that Anton had encountered before.

The forest elves were looking around at the Brownies' overly excited expressions, and Anton knew that piqued their curiosity more than anything else. Once everyone was seated, the Brownie elder went to the front and eloquently gave a spoiler-free introduction to the first Avatar film that truly impressed Anton. Thankfully, Anton had started his vlog using his globe of browser sharing, since he planned to copy the Brownie elder’s speech or at least let Romina copy it. Anton saw that when the forest elves heard the Brownie elder’s introduction, he could see that the elves were now invested. He also saw that those who were seated at the front were the ones who had not seen the films before, which was the Brownies who were away when the film watching started. They, too, were full of excitement since Anton was sure that the others already bombarded them with stories about the films.

During the film, Anton was extremely amused when he saw that the expressions of the forest elves were the same as the Brownies. They also stood up during the battle scenes as if they wanted to dive inside the screen to help the race from Pandora in defending their forest against the invaders.

At first, Anton thought that the folks who were seated behind the forest elves would complain since the tall elves were blocking their view, but the brownie folks ran to the side to continue watching the movie. Anton was shocked that he could see the forest elves crying during the most intense scenes, including the part when the protagonist of the film was being assisted by the Na’vi using their spiritual ritual in fully transferring the hero’s consciousness to his Na’vi body.

When the movie ended, instead of clapping, the forest elves were silent. It was as if they were shocked at seeing such an epic film. Anton had read once that true appreciation for something was not applause, but silence.
