Chapter 78: Speak Up About Your Demands

At least based on the feedback from netizens, everyone seemed quite approving of her portrayal of Daisy.

This was what made her happiest.

Edward, while organizing things, said, "At noon, I'll go buy a few more dishes that Chloe likes to celebrate properly."

"Don't..." Chloe looked at Edward and shook her head: "Don't be too conspicuous. It's not good."

"What's there to fear about celebrating among ourselves? Chloe, you're being too cautious," Taylor said.

Chloe pursed her lips and said, "I'm a newcomer. It's only right to be a bit low-key."

Edward and Taylor exchanged a glance, and in the end, could only nod. Edward said, "Actually, Chloe's thinking isn't wrong. I just passed by Veronica's dressing room and heard her losing her temper. I vaguely caught that it was about the promotional photos. If Chloe were to pop up celebrating now and get noticed, she'd definitely offend Veronica."

Taylor, coming down from her excitement, also realized: "Right, I thought the official account would release Veronica's promotional photos this round. How did it become Chloe and Byran? Veronica and Bunnie are the dual female leads, number two. Bunnie's were released, so why not Veronica's?"

Edward shook his head, indicating he didn't know.

Hearing this made Chloe even more anxious. She quickly asked Taylor: "Does this count as offending a senior?"

"Of course not. This is the promotions department's business. What does it have to do with us? It's not something you can control," Taylor said, offering Chloe a reassuring smile: "Don't worry about these things. The crew's promotions are always run by a professional team. They're definitely more professional than us. Look at today's results—that proves they know what they're doing."

That made Chloe feel a bit more at ease.

She just wanted to act steadily. She never cared much about fame and certainly didn't want to steal anyone else's spotlight.

On the other side, Alice brought back the news.

  "What did you say?"

Veronica stared at Alice in disbelief, as if she hadn't understood a single word Alice just said: "Say it again!"

Alice hung her head, trembling: "The promotions department said... your set of promotional photos is lost. They can't find them."

"The negatives? Aren't there negatives?" Veronica pressed.

Alice shook her head: "No... the negatives are lost too..."

"How is that possible!" Veronica's eyes widened, her expression turning fierce: "Only my photos are lost? Even the negatives?"

No one in the room dared to breathe loudly. The situation did sound strange.

If they were genuinely lost by accident, someone should have informed the team earlier. Knowing Veronica's personality, she would have squeezed out time to reshoot a set.

A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

But there was no news at all; they just didn't release her photos.

Having been in the entertainment industry for years, Veronica wasn't someone easily fooled by such an excuse.

As her initial anger subsided, the more she thought about it, the more something felt off. Finally, she said to Alice, "Impossible. Go contact someone from the promotions department. Get to the bottom of this for me. Isn't that Bill a good friend of yours? Ask him. Offering a little incentive is fine. Just make sure you find out what's really going on."

She wanted to see just who had the nerve to trip her up!

At 10 a.m., Grace arrived at the Shootie Film and Television Base.

She had contacted Jones in advance, hoping to borrow a professional from the legal department of Golden Joe Media. Unexpectedly, when she arrived, Jones had come in person.

"Mr. Jones?" Grace was somewhat surprised to see him.

Jones, wearing a t-shirt, shorts, and sunglasses, walked up to Grace with a smile and greeted her: "Miss Dorothy, long time no see."

Grace looked past him at the man and woman standing behind him, puzzled: "I only asked to borrow one person. You're..."

Jones nodded upon hearing this: "Don't misunderstand, Miss Dorothy. Let me introduce them first."

He first introduced the man in the suit: "This is Lawyer Angelo, a consultant from our legal department. He's the one who will help you with the professional issues today."

Grace nodded and greeted Lawyer Angelo.

Then Jones introduced the other woman: "This is Wendy, an artist manager from 'Golden Joe'. She also brought a contract today, hoping to discuss it with Chloe."

Now Grace understood. Jones also wanted to sign Chloe.

"Miss Dorothy, have you seen today's trending topics online?" Jones asked.

"I hadn't initially, but everyone else had. I found out after getting off the plane," Grace replied.

"Chloe has great potential, so please don't misunderstand, Miss Dorothy. 'Golden Joe' is, after all, an entertainment company. We certainly wouldn't let go of a promising talent like Chloe. Now that she's in our own production, it’s a case of “First come, First served”. We have to seize the opportunity, right?"

Grace smiled: "Mr. Jones, you don't need to explain so much to me. Regarding the signing, I fully respect my sister's wishes. As long as she agrees, I'll support whoever she signs with."

"My stance remains the same: don't let my sister know I invested in this drama."

Jones nodded understandingly: "Rest assured, Miss Dorothy. I won't be personally involved. Wendy will be the one talking to Chloe."

Soon after, Taylor ran out to meet them. She had seen Grace during Chloe's video calls with her sister, so she recognized her immediately.

  She also recognized Jones.

  "Mr. Jones! Wendy!"

Before Taylor could say more, Jones merely gave a slight nod, then walked past her directly into the filming area.

Wendy smiled at Taylor and followed.

Only Grace and Lawyer Angelo remained standing where they were.

Taylor blinked in, then turned to greet Grace: "You're Chloe's older sister, right? Come in with me."

As soon as she saw her sister, Chloe happily rushed over, both delighted and a bit apologetic: "Making you go through all this trouble again for my sake, I'm really sorry."

"It's fine. Your sister hasn't seen what a film set looks like before. I came for the novelty," Grace said, then asked: "Agent Faye isn't here yet?"

  Chloe shook her head.

"That's just as well. This is Lawyer Angelo. Quickly get that contract template and show it to Lawyer Angelo to see if there are any issues."

Then, while Lawyer Angelo was reviewing the contract, Grace pulled her sister aside and said in a low voice: "Let me ask you, do you have any thoughts or preferences about arrangements after signing?"

Chloe was taken aback, then shook her head: "Not really. Having roles to act in is enough. Sis, I'm a newcomer. It wouldn't be good to make too many demands, right?"

"Of course, you should state your demands if you have them! That's the whole point of 'discussing'. Otherwise, why would I come all this way? Isn't it precisely so you can have the confidence to state your requirements?"

Hearing this, Chloe looked troubled and hesitated: "I don't want people to think I'm acting like a diva despite being a small name."

"But signing is a collaboration between two parties. They have demands of you, and you also have the right to state your own demands. Cooperation happens when both sides' demands can align. You can't give up your rights just because you're a newcomer!"

Grace took her sister's hand and said, "Don't be afraid, I'm here. If you don't make things clear now, if later the company assigns you to do things you don't like, you'll just have to obey."

Chloe looked at her sister, thought for a moment, and then nodded.
