Arc 2, Chapter 16 - The Search for the Call of the Gods

Jumkou finally decided it was time to leave Testharia and find Flynnigan Shotaro. The one person, who she thinks can save the world, and overwrite her timeline of pure Hell.

She felt scared, of course she was. This is no ordinary task, and there are people out to get her and Flynnigan Shotaro. This kid, known to be powerless and useless, is seen as the only person who can save this world. But why?

Jumkou believes that Flynnigan Shotaro is blessed, that he is the Call of the Gods.

It doesn't matter if he's powerless, or useless. All it matters is that he has the power to vanquish the hearts of impurity. That alone was enough to completely stop whatever was coming.

  So where would she start?

  "...Earth..."

But there was one slight problem.

  "... I can't... read this language!"

The cockpit was in Testharian language. Of course she wouldn't be able to read it. But how would she operate this mech if she can't even read the instructions? She hasn't even flown a ship before. She was new to all of this.

The only thing she knew how to do was fire up the engines. That alone was a huge start. Looking at the control system, she wanted to give up already.

How am I going to learn this god-awful language!?

.:. No... it's cool, Jumy. Just let your Soul guide you... .:.

She grabbed the control handles and pulled. She was flying slow... very slow.

.:. Surely, it's not any different than flying the rust buckets you had in the future... right? .:.

She was slow sailing over Tristate, while her palms were getting sweaty. What was she so afraid of?

  Oh, that's right.

She didn't want to crash into a building or something. And... this wasn't exactly helping to try and think positive. It was such a complicated control system, she couldn't help but feel doubtful.

  .:. Confidence... .:.

Funnily, everybody was looking at 'Sachiel' flying away on his ship... but he was the type of guy to not fly slow. It was his ship, of course he would know how to drive it.

Everybody below batted an eye on the ship and were filled with confusion. Was this someone stealing Sachiel Eria's very own ship? But that would be impossible, since every floor is restricted with a permit, and everything is guarded. Nobody is able to sneak by security. The hangar wasn't even for the public; it was for the Royal Family.

So you couldn't be able to steal this by ordinary means... unless you're part of the Royal Family or at least have very close ties with.

  .:. I-I can't read Testharian... .:.

At this point, Jumkou just started pressing buttons.

.:. I've been entrusted to find Flynnigan Shotaro, protect him, and bring him back here... but I can't EVEN OPERATE A SHIP!? .:.

It wasn't Jumkou's fault though. The ship was so high-tech that one of the ways to ride this ship was with a ball that was on the left side of the pilot chair. The spamming of buttons would also cause the ship to accelerate 15 Mach's in 10 seconds.

  "... AA! AAHH!!"

All the sudden G-Force would slam her against the seat.

"STOP! STOPPP!!" Jumkou would press more buttons - accidentally wasting a lock-on disruptor flare.

.:. LET... ME... OUTTA HERE!! I'M SERIOUSLY NOT GONNA DO THIS! .:.

One of the buttons she pressed was activating a support AI for the ship. It spoke in Testharian, asking what Jumkou wanted to do.

"I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE SAYING!! JUST- SLOW THIS THING DOWN!"

  - Slowing speed, as requested. -

For some reason, it spoke the common language, slowing down the ship. This enabled Jumkou to take a breather and come back to her senses. Seriously, what was this? You can't even call this a ship? It's a goddamn panic machine.

Jumkou took a deep breath. Relieved from the slow-down of the ship. She grabbed her control handles again. "... Y-you can speak my language?" She asked the artificial intelligence of this ship.

  - I am capable of speaking over 572,048 languages scattered over the galaxy. I am capable of detecting which language is spoken. In other words... Welcome aboard the ship, Jumkou Katatoria. -

As expected of Sachiel Eria. He had programmed the ship to the common language to make it easier for Jumkou. A little warning would've been nice, though.

"Ooh... Well this sure helps a lot... I owe you, Sachiel."

Jumkou wiped her sweat away and laid back on the chair with a confident smile. "... Is it possible you can set course to planet: Earth?"

  - Course selected. Destination; Planet Earth. Searching fastest route. Estimated Arrival Time: 3 days, 16 hours, 28 minutes, 44 seconds. Counting. -

Jumkou felt great. She would be able to reach the one she's looking for. There's just one problem that's running in her mind. The route to Earth is one of the worst in the galaxy. It was very likely she'd get ambushed.

This ship is very valuable... but there is also one advantage Jumkou has.

Nobody would dare to attack the now famous Sachiel Eria.

This way, it would seem as if this is Sachiel’s ship, and not some stupid runaway girl. Not that she is a runaway.

Jumkou was able to calm herself down. Taking deep breaths and slowly closing her eyes. Leaving her whole fate into this spaceship. It was able to fly perfectly on autopilot, but there were no active enemies that would harm the ship. "Can we speed this up? I'm in a hurry..."

  - Certainly. Initiating Hyperspeed, Enhanced Acceleration - 50% the Speed of Light. -

A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

And just like that, as soon as the ship was out of the atmosphere, the ship went insanely fast. It was too fast, that even the sounds the ship was making were getting compressed due to speed.

Jumkou's weight would almost become one-with-the-seat, because of how fast the ship was. She could see the entire starry sky in the space outside. And it was... beautiful.

So, this was Hyperspeed... she had never seen anything like it before.

  - In the meantime, hello. My name is Nasse. I am an Artificial General Intelligence created to improve life qualities of all Testharians from young, middle-aged and elderly. -

"Nasse...?" Jumkou didn't understand the term: 'Artificial General Intelligence'. Was this just the support program being overly nice to her? Maybe she shouldn't be so nervous, the ship could really use somebody else beside the pilot. She should keep this... robot.

AGI’s (Artificial General Intelligences) are considered a higher tier of machines. It is capable of independent thinking. Much like humans, it can solve problems on its own. It is intelligent and can adapt. Nasse is not just an AGI; it is a creation of the highest quality ever made.

An AGI is capable to feel emotions like humans, like love and affection, and can become good and evil. And just like humans, it can also create theories and ideas from thoughts in its head.

But AGI's died off before Jumkou had the chance to use one of them. Her timeline was Hell, anyways. But now, she has the opportunity to meet, and use an AGI.

"... So... Nasse... What do you do for fun?"

  .:. You idiot... you're talking to a robot. .:.

She felt embarrassed almost instantly. A robot, it may be, but Nasse was kind to her, and it felt weird to ask for a response, as if it would have any better answer than her, Jumkou.

  - I like doing what I am programmed for. I help people to find a better future in the lives they are living. -

That was its reply. At least Nasse responded and gave a valid response. Nasse spoke like a human, but still retained it's slow and robotic voice.

"At least you seem more human than... others."

  - I shall accept your compliment with grace and respect. - It smiled. The cockpit had a screen reserved for Nasse which revealed her upper body and face. It seemed... proud.

"Sachiel really did a nice job. Seriously, is there anything he can't do?" She chuckled a bit and stretched. Her body felt exhausted, mostly her back. But the rest was in her bones, like she had a terrible case of arthritis. The fact that the support AGI was actually smart was a huge help to Jumkou, but a hassle as well. It is supposed to improve life, after all.

"So, what else can you do, Nasse?"

  - I have been programmed to do many things. Such as singing, offering therapeutic help and physiotherapeutic help to those in need. But most importantly, I exist to become lifelong companions of people. -

"... Really? " She yawned, "It seems that you'll be the company to keep me busy on this trip. Nice meeting you, Nasse!" Jumkou shook the hand of the Artificial General Intelligence with an open palm.

"..." Before she realized she can't really touch or feel a hologram, she realized she was a little late and pulled her hand back.

Nasse smiled at Jumkou once again. - You seem a bit unknowledgeable about my function, so allow me to explain furthermore. Since my core is physically located within your spacecraft, I am always present inside of the ship. Since a pilot is in constant need of knowledge, I am tasked to provide you with this. -

The cockpit would open a small cupboard on the wall. Inside was a watch that Jumkou could use. It was able to turn this ship on and off remotely and contact Nasse in case something goes wrong or off course. Of course, she also needs someone to talk to even outside of the spaceship.

"Is it possible to receive information on planets, Nasse?"

  - Certainly. What planet do you wish to receive information about? -

"... Earth. What is it like these days?"

Nasse took about 2.4 seconds to upload any knowledge of Earth that she could obtain.

  - Earth is a blooming and peaceful planet, with minimal crime and ranking high on the galactic tourist list. There are about 18 billion humans living on the planet and is governed by a body called Soul-Core. It is home to the most Souls in the galaxy, more than any other planet. Earth is well known for its long history and was the homeplace of planet colonization and terraforming. Earth started terraforming planets in the solar system about 180 years ago. In present time, Earth's ambitions have brought about a galaxy inhabited by roughly 4,6 septillion people of different species, however 85% are of human origin. -

"Hm..." Jumkou thought hard about this information. This new piece of info was astounding to hear, almost impossible to believe.

Humanity had really advanced through the stars.

The Earth in her timeline was no longer, so it was nice to have a chance at seeing Earth at its best.

Jumkou wanted to ask more questions, but her stomach would rumble. She was hungry, and she was stupid to not bring anything with her to keep her from starving.

  "... Ow, man..."

Funnily enough, the AGI picked up on it fairly quick.

  - Do not worry, Jumkou. There is a fridge on the back of the ship. It is full, with a variety of food you may or may not like. -

Jumkou jumped straight up and walked towards the ship. "Oh goody!"

But she really jumped in happiness when she saw her favourite drink.

"A-APPLE JUICE!!" She found packs and packs of apple juice sitting in the fridge. Sachiel Eria remembered what she liked... and it's getting kinda creepy. She really is blessed. She then started picking all the snack food that would most fit her appetite. It ranged from fries to rice-balls. "Thanks Sachiel!"

She would sit back down, eating all the stuff she found. Nasse would occasionally come through a window or a monitor to ask if her life was all right. It was clear that it is interested. Jumkou would answer almost all its questions to it's best and understanding.

  - Jumkou. As far as you're aware, your mission is to find, protect and escort Flynnigan Shotaro. It will be no easy task. Please do caution safety and restraint as it is no wise move to risk your own life and the mission's progress in the process. -

"Houdo y'kuw dath?" She stopped stuffing her mouth with food.

  - I know no human who entered ships without a clear mission in mind. I have been let known of your mission by the Great Kamisword himself. Would you like to calculate the success probability of this mission? -

  "... You can do that?"

  - I can do many things, Jumkou. It is your choice if you would like to know or not, of course. -

"Do it. The higher the better." Jumkou said while taking a big sip of her apple juice.

After a minute, it finally spoke.

  - Your probability of success is 65.96%. - It said, using its latest knowledge of Earth and events that happened there. There was no info on Flynnigan Shotaro.

"Certainly higher than what I was expecting..."

.:. Though, should I really let that worry me? It is an AGI... no offense, Nasse. But if there is anything that would eliminate any form of probability... Then it's the power of the Soul. .:.

While other planetary supremacies deal with issues of their own, White Eye have finally been interrupted by the Nextellar Star Clan in which they've attacked the planet of their main supply line:

  Kobaji.

It was the place where most minerals were collected from. And the only place that has the White Eyes as their official customers. Well, they were their official customers.

It is now in the hands of Nextellar Star Clan, in which the Septo Corporation, backed by Dark Intrinium, helped occupy Kobaji.

"This is outright blasphemy!" One man spoke.

"The Nextellar Star Clan have attacked our most valuable supply line about 4 hours ago, and what have you all been doing!? Sitting and shitting, that's all you have been doing!"

This was one of their councilmembers speaking. He was concerned, of course. They're in a crisis state.

"I'm ordering all of you to ACT. THIS INSTANT! All of you as members of White Eye are to immediately deploy to Kobaji, to the outer walls and push back the enemy clan!"

The sweaty councilmember spoke. This was a sudden act of power, or in better terms.

  A declaration of war.

Nextellar Star Clan were backed by the most valuable corporation in the galaxy, and the greatest military power known in the galaxy. So not only does White Eye have the threat of war, but they might face certain defeat, and it could very likely result in annihilation.

  A complete, total destruction.

At any rate, there was nothing else they can do. White Eye isn't backed by any major body, nor is it a major power in the galaxy.

So, it was time White Eye did something about it.

.:. Nextellar, huh... I guess they are finally taking their chance to pick the bone. .:. Ken thought, sitting in the back as usual. He wasn't a high rank, unlike Megami Duvet and Evto Mugen.

Megami was there, forced to listen to the councilmember's annoying rant. She didn't care about White Eye, nor the sudden declaration of war. What really mattered to her, was Dark Intrinium.

But now that Dark Intrinium is a direct belligerent to the war against White Eye, then... Megami could only shake her head.

.:. Damnit... .:. She cursed in thought.

  She hated Dark Intrinium.

She wanted to stop all of this.

  But how?

"All of you will be escorted to your assigned transporting ships, set course to Kobaji in Sector 128 - the mining factory. We don't have any time to lose, go now!"

The meeting was dismissed, now every White Eye member was assigned a mandatory mission collectively - take back Kobaji and push back Nextellar Star Clan.
